14 November 2014 How to Stop Playing Computer Games
Nowadays, many people are trying to stop playing computer games, which are time-consuming. Here are some steps to get rid of the desire to play. Computer games could be very addictive and a lot of gamers face some problems because of that, so they want to quit playing. First of all you have to make a note with a calculation of the average amount of hours you play every day. Then you have to cut off a thirty minutes every second day. After that you should think about the exact reasons you want to stop playing because these reasons will motivate you. Next, you have to think about what other things you can do in your leisure time. When people stop doing something they like or addicted to, it will hurt at first. So, you should be strict to yourself and do the most important things such as studying and working. If you have free time, you can play, but don’t forget about reducing the time you play computer games. The next important step is to ask your parents or friends to remind you to turn your computer off at a certain time. Finally, if you feel that you have a serious addiction, you have to tell yourself that only you can control your body and mind, and only you decide what to do or not to do. This step is very important to develop self-control skills. All these steps will help you to stop playing video games and get rid of video games addiction, so you will spend your time more efficiently.

Video games seem to be an essential part around my friends’ circle. Unfortunately, I have never been one of them, but since my brother is a huge fan of video games, I can say I grew up around a video games’ world. As I remember, my brother played video games in every minute and second. I believe you must wonder why I could insist not to play. The truth is I was too afraid to be addicted to those games. I knew I was like my brother. I have seen all the consequences being addicted to video games bring. So I never played the same games several times and this is how I controlled myself. Hence it is much easier for me to observe how people interact with video games and it can also satisfy my curiosity about why people are so addictive. Therefore, I asked two of my girlfriends and my brother to help me to conduct this research. I ask them to play Halo 4, which is a new game they have never played.…

One last key area of research that has appeared in relating self-regulation to video games, concerns that of pathological gaming or personal gaming addiction. Pathological gaming is often seen in much the same light as to how pathological gambling is viewed in the DSM, in the sense that they are viewed as a set of addictive behaviors (Liau et al., 2015a). This obviously presents a concern for a number of people who play video games, or parents who let their children play games, in hope that they do not develop an addiction to this activity. Two separate studies that were conducted, analyzed potential predictors as to what may cause a gamer to develop a pathological gaming habit, one investigating video games as a whole (Liau et al., 2015a),…
