Recently, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) have involved in a project that focuses on the environmental awareness. This project is called “Bandar Hijau Serdeng”, collaboration between UPM with the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ0 which involved in activities from simple “3R’’ proses which includes reduce, recycle and reused campaigns. Extension to this project, UPM has decided to build a pavilion for the purpose of providing a place to sit and enjoy the scenery of Serdang town. Besides having an impressive design, the pavilion will also function as a place to exhibit pulic activities of Serdang town. Based on this, our IND UPM students are required to design a new design of display panel that will be place to pavilion later. The design should be based on the term of “Sustainable City Design/ Green Design”.
3.1 Specific Objective
To gives knowledge and skills towards problems identification process and uses need in a specific design project. •
To gives exposure towards influence factor, critical thinking, and philosophy that influence idea generation in industrial design. •
To gives knowledge and awareness towards various aspect in design reinfinement process on a specific product such as ergonomics, technology, user and market needs, style, material and contemporary issues.

4.0 FINDING & ANALYSIS
4.1 Definition of display panel
Display panel is a vertical surface on which information can be displayed to public view display board. The information to be display can be for advertisements, image, education purpose, and movie poster. 4.2 Definition of green technology
Green Technology is the development and application of products, equipment and systems used to conserve the natural environment and resources, which minimize and reduces the negative impact of human activities. In addition, Green Technology refers to products, equipment or systems which satisfy the following criteria which minimizes the degradation of the environment, has zero or low greenhouse gas (GHG) emission, safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for all forms of life, conserves the use of energy and natural resources and it must promotes the use of renewable resources.
Examples of Renewable Energy
Generate electricity, heat, or fuel for use within the establishment from: •
Wind (Aeolic) Energy
Ocean (Tidal) Energy
Land Fill Gas (LFG)
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
Examples of Energy Efficiency
Use of the following technologies or practices within the establishment: •
Cogeneration or Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
Motor System Optimization (through capital spending, re-engineering or use of software such as Motormaster+, etc.) •
Isothermal melting process
Energy efficient fume hoods
LEED certified building
Weatherization measures for existing construction
Energy efficient devices such as Energy Star rated appliances, Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs), motion detection lighting, or programmable thermostats which reduce the establishment's energy consumption
Examples of Green House Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction
The use of technologies and practices to reduce GHG other than renewable energy or energy efficiency, including: •
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies
Purchase and use of carbon offsets
Promotion and/or subsidy of alternative forms of transportation for employees, such as carpools, fuel efficient vehicles, cycling, or mass transit •
Implementation of a telework program for employees
Methane emissions reduction and/or reuse (including enteric fermentation reduction, landfill gas capture, manure biogas recovery, etc.)
