Republic Act No. 10963 Case Study

The signed Republic Act No. 10963 by President “Roa” Duterte, is part of the change our president wanted to do. The implementation of TRAIN Law will be beneficial to the government and the poor as it was stated by the Department of Finance that whose income below 250, 000 pesos are exempted from paying personal income tax (PIT). On the other hand the rich people will have a bigger contribution that will help the government to pursue and allot money to their projects such as infrastructures. The funds that will be collected to the people who have higher salaries also have higher tax that ranges from 32% to 35%. According to Department of Finance, the TRAIN Law will be able to provide the needs of its citizens. In addition, with the higher taxes being given to drinks and foods with sugar, caloric and non-caloric sweeteners; also tobaccos, will help the Filipino citizens to avoid these and save their money instead. It is because this products are harmful to our
10963 or known as the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, provides the new percentage of taxes which will help the government to gain sufficient funds. However, this funds that they will have can be corrupted by some politicians. According to ABS CBN News (2017), “PH still among world’s most corrupt countries: Transparency Int’l index” that the Philippines is in the bottom half of the rankings worldwide. The Philippines gathered a score of 35 out of 100 in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index, similar from last year’s score. In addition, TRAIN Law affects all from consumers to its providers with the excise tax as it increases different products such as fuel and drinks using sugar, caloric and non-caloric sweeteners. The cons presented above are some of the factors that may affect the new law nevertheless, there are still a lot to see and the TRAIN Law will be beneficial to most of the Filipino
