The objectives behind accreditations and regulations are to keep and assure compliance is followed to the letter of the law. The regulations are designed to guide the agencies activity and the activity of the employees. Health care is an industry that must have regulations and regulators to assist the industry in complying with a plethora of issues that protect the consumers. Health care are formed and implemented by different levels of government and the state and local levels put it into practice. Although the objectives seem clear and promote a sense of uniformed standard that must be met to keep services cohesive.

The pride of the commission is being the leader in having a competitive edge in health care when seeking excellence in their ability of improving risk management and the reduction of risks to patients and employees alike. Those organizations connected to the commission experience all the benefits of training, development of staff recruitment and staff education. Certification programs are offered to leaders of the organization and also are an information source for stakeholders that all compliance requirements have been met, as well as the improvement in quality and safety of care. The Joint Commission accreditation affects an organizations ability to meet requirements in patient treatment, infection control, and patient rights are views as important to their actual performance. Provisional accreditation can be achieved when some of the requirements have been met but still needs more improvement in compliance issues and how the organization is to meet their measure of success. Conditional accreditation is granted if the case where the organization has met the majority of the standards, yet still have issues that must be complaint with other organizations within the same group or category; a follow-up visit in required. Preliminary denial of accreditation happens when an organization strays from the standards set or compliance issues do not meet standards and there is evidence to deny their accreditation; however they have their right to appeal the decision.
