On 05/15/16 at approximately 2055 hours, while on patrol in the area of Nebraska Ave. N. and Columbus Dr. E., I observed two subjects standing at the front entrance of the Sunoco Convenience store located at 2317 Nebraska Ave. N. The black male subject was straddling a bicycle and the white female subject was standing next to him. The white female was holding a beverage in her left hand that was wrapped in a brown paper bag. Upon sight of my patrol vehicle, the female subject attempted to concealed the beverage on the left side of her body. As I continued to drive North on Nebraska Ave., the female subject continued to turn her body in order to conceal the beverage. When looking at leadership from a trait approach, several solid characteristics exist. One of those characteristics is personality. Personality is important especially in the work place and can set the tone of the environment. For example, if a manager/leader has a positive attitude and approach to employees during a situation then the outcome will be positive. When employees are happy and working in positive atmosphere achievements and goals are accomplished. An additional strength of the trait approach is that the approach provides a deep understanding of what makes an individual successful as a leader. Firoozeh Dumas' essay, "The F-Word," addresses the very relatable struggle every person with an ethnic name faces in the American culture. Her prime example being herself, Dumas humorously and realistically depicts the trauma a person endures from constantly having to educate people about your name. She also uses the names of her siblings to provide a comparison of the names' meaning in Persian versus their American mispronunciations. Dumas' seamless use of analogies, word choice and quotations assists in her goal of making the reader understand and sympathize with her frustration.…

The self-assessment results reflect the profile management foundations (PMF) of an individual who possesses the successful skills to manage and lead others, with the ability to compromise with their workforce as conflicts occur within an organization. On the A Twenty-First Century Manager assessment, my score was 9/10. I think back to all the times that I have stepped up to be a leader from group projects and consulting; I have always known how to be a great leader. Some are born to be a leader. According to Shane Scott, the numerous studies done have shown genes affect a host of leadership dimensions. Some could be the attitude towards leadership, ability to lead a group, and even the willingness to step into that leadership role (Scott, 2010). I have always understood the mechanics of how to be an effective leader; my generation tends to be more open-minded, allowing leaders to utilize their team more than before. I strive to help an organization succeed in their mission and help create an effective team with my leadership of relying on the team to support the goal.…

I felt sad for Mr. Gill, one of the main reasons being that I have personally been in a MVC myself which brought up the similar feelings, such as anxiety and chronic pain that Mr. Gill expressed. It felt like despite the differences in our age or situation, the pain he was expressing I could relate to directly. Another reason for feeling sadness for him was that he reminded me so much of my own father in appearance and nature. During the session, he referred to me as someone who is like his daughter and that he felt comfortable sharing information with me. I think this moment caused a shift in our therapeutic relationship, in which I felt even more inclined to show him respect and to provide encouragement on his development. The language barriers he faced in getting treatment made me feel angry towards the system. Unfortunately, MVC are common occurrences in our society thus, I imagined that the support systems would have been set in place for survivors to reduce the effects of physical and psychological harms.…

That was another week went by at Sherwood Park Manor. As usual, I started my shift by listening to the morning report and then heading to my assign resident room. I started morning care by providing the care of my assigned resident, including taking her vital signs. After that I directed my resident to sit in the dining for breakfast meal. And once I was done, I went and helped another resident with morning care too, and at last bring him to the dining for breakfast. However, before I head to the dining to help with feeding the resident I checked the room to ensure that everyone was out. While I was checking I found a resident lying in bed and when I asked other personal support worker about her, I was told that she refused to get up for breakfast. I went to her any way to try to convince her to come for breakfast and finally she was able to get up and…

As I began English 111 this summer I thought I was a good writer unfortunately. I was not skilled in writing like I expected. As I progressed in in this course it has become evident to me I lacked the proper structure when formulating an essay. I essentially saw that I was going to need a lot of improvement when devising a good thesis statement and fixing grammatic errors. I also had to refrain from using sentence fragments to improve the flow of my writing. Despite, all the obstacles, I have developed the skills needed to formulate an essay. However, this course has given me the knowledge needed to succeed in writing many well-structured papers.…

My former English professor would always say “find a way 101”, whenever a student found themselves struggling in her class. At first I did not understand why she was so rude to her students, this was until after I graduated high school when I realized I was wrong. She was not rude, she was not mean, she was preparing her students for college level English classes. Reflecting on my past encounter with the toughest teacher at my former high school, I can say I feel prepared for a college level class. Although I may have taken the most rigorous class in high school, that does not mean I am expected to pass without falling short. However, I am certain that I am ready for the challenges that my professor will assign me in the fall.…
