Rhetorical Knowledge
During this project, I used some of the WPA outcomes. My lack of experience in this type of writing affected my output within project 1. Being exposed to new writing styles has opened my eyes to a new way of writing which included the observation in the gym for project 1.

Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing
For this project, I had to learn how to be a competent writer. Taking a writing project and breaking it down into stages made the project seem less overwhelming. By doing this, I had a better grasp of what I wanted to discuss and how I was going to convey my project.
Locating different sources for project 1 was something that I haven’t been exposed to since high school. When I started writing, I knew little about citing various

Writing a proposal, a rough draft first and integrating the feedback from my classmates and my professor helped me with the final one assisted me to fine-tune my writing through giving me a chance to do editing on my project.
I gained experience in negotiating variations in genre conventions by first understanding that it was crucial to choose the right type of my writing so that it can reach the intended audience appropriately. During the process of writing, I was able to structure my draft in a manner that will make the audience understand my reasoning and my opinion. Selecting the correct genre for a piece is necessary when writing an argumentative kind of work.
I learned about the standard formats and the design features for different types of texts through reading the ASU resources that were provided while researching various kinds of topics. I heard about on how to correctly format my project using APA, MLA, Chicago, and Harvard referencing. Before this study, I had no idea about the formatting.

By utilizing four steps, I can effectively write an essay on the topics assigned during this program (Bethel, 2015). The first step is developing a clear point and is followed by supporting ideas. I plan to use quick notes to get my ideas down and make sure I need them. Next I need to organize my ideas to explain how I arrived at my thesis. Finally, I need to proofread my writing to omit any grammar or writing mistakes. These steps can help my writing be more concise and improve over time.…

I have learned that revising your writing makes it way better than before. You find your mistakes and realize you can replace words such as “bring to” to a different high vocabulary word such as “cease”. I know now that there is no way to make your paper perfect. There will always be a word, words, or sentence you could change. In addition, I’ve gained a better understanding on passive and active sentences. Once I was done writing my paper, and began to reread it I found some passive sentences. All I did was revise the sentence which helped my writing flow better. Initially, I read the first paper I wrote for the Quarter 1 Writing Assessment and I noticed that I didn’t follow the directions completely. As I read on, there were many simple sentences and not many transitional words.…

When one masters a certain practice, one becomes confident and nearly perfects the practice either because one had guidance or practiced continuously. I have not put myself in either one of those situations. To be honest, I write ‘put myself’ because I believe I had the choice of removing myself from classrooms to another better one; and the choice of being able to discipline myself to practice writing continuously.…

Throughout this semester I have received a lot of input and criticism on my essays from my TA, my professor and fellow students. This semester I was fortunate to receive quick, fairly reliable, built in feedback. From the feedback that I have received by taking this class I believe that I have become a better writer as it was beneficial for the most part. Feedback that I received from my fellow students was occasionally helpful. It typically varied from week to week. One week I would write a paper and get a ton of markings and criticism on it which was helpful because I was able to see what I did wrong and I would rarely have to get it proof read another time. Other times I would turn in a paper and it would come back with few markings and comments. This felt almost like a waste of time because I knew that I had more mistakes that I did not catch earlier. Because of this I would have to go out of my way and someone else would have to go out of their way to get it proof read again, or I would risk handing in the good copy with mistakes. One thing that I appreciated from peer evaluation days was that was able to see what worked in my paper, what did not and what I need to improve on.…

As shown in my final products, my ability to convey a message through my writing has gotten stronger. My persuasive essay, for example, was able to convince those with opposing views by using information and inferencing how it would affect everyone in a negative manner. Also, in my cultural identity essay I was able to effectively describe and define my culture and how the combination of my parents’ distinctive cultures became a unique one entirely. Previously in my writing I do not think I was able to efficiently convey a message to my audience like I do after this…

In school, we have been required to write many papers on many different subjects, some being timed and others not. Writing has never been something that has come easy to me, especially when put on the spot and told to write a paper in a certain amount of hours. When I write, I like to have time to think and plan my essay. Being able to revise and edit the paper makes it even better than it was before. When I am given the time to plan my essay, the writing has more depth than when I am put on the spot and have no time to think about what will go into my paper.…

July 1993, Lexington, Kentucky. A woman gives birth to a beautiful baby girl with seven holes in her heart; thus began 19 years of visits to an esteemed cardiologist. Extremely worried, her parents inquired regarding their daughter's future, alleviating their worries, the doctor's advice to them was to be diligent and "treat her as you would a normal child." Knowing I have been different did not stop me from participating fully in life, especially during my childhood. In December 2012, we received the wonderful news that the final hole had closed. The odds were in my favor since I have been lucky to have never needed surgery, nor required hospital care from a critical injury. I believe that there is a reason I exist on this earth; and my blueprint…
