Reflection On My Writing
The first day of this English course I was excised to improve more on my writing because I have trouble getting my thoughts together and writing them down in a paper. At the end, each paper thought me what were my successful moments, my challenging moments, my overall thoughts on each paper, what each project help me recognize, and what I take away from each project.

First of all, in all my writing project I was successful in learning a new information about the topic. For example, on the writing project 1 it was about state flags and it taught me a lot about the different flags around the United States. It might sound silly, but I had no idea other states had flags except Chicago. On the writing project 2 I was successful making my point about replacing computer over textbooks. Know that technology is becoming more used in school by teacher and students, we should give computers a chance to be use in classrooms. On writing project 3 I was successfully pointing out the pros and cons on

For example, on the writing project four the paper had to be written in APA format and that was my first time doing it. At the beginning it was confusing because I had no idea how to do it. But thank you to Microsoft word they have an APA format paper all I had to do is copy and paste my old project. For this writing project it was challenging because I’m used to writing MLA and both of them are way different from one another that it’s hard to keep up. For the rest of the writing project the challenge part was finding the information on the internet. Especially on project writing three it was hard finding facts about laptops/ IPads in the classrooms because this topic is resent and schools are still testing them. What I take away from all of each and one of the writing project is the new information I learn, as well as, how to write a paper in APA

One thing that the project has helped me with is time management. I spent a lot of time improving products and this left little time for improving my evaluations, and this is an area I could focus on if I did the project again. Personally, I believe that if I had created a plan with a list of tasks and deadlines for them, I think the project I have produced would be much better and all the areas would've been covered accurately. Upon completion of the project, my time management skills have improved significantly and I am more likely to complete homework on time in my other subjects.…

I have learned that revising your writing makes it way better than before. You find your mistakes and realize you can replace words such as “bring to” to a different high vocabulary word such as “cease”. I know now that there is no way to make your paper perfect. There will always be a word, words, or sentence you could change. In addition, I’ve gained a better understanding on passive and active sentences. Once I was done writing my paper, and began to reread it I found some passive sentences. All I did was revise the sentence which helped my writing flow better. Initially, I read the first paper I wrote for the Quarter 1 Writing Assessment and I noticed that I didn’t follow the directions completely. As I read on, there were many simple sentences and not many transitional words.…

When choosing classes a person normally does not choose a class that they will regret or even cringe when thinking about the class. However, when you have no other choice and are required to take such a class then you must complete it. When I started this class I hated writing, my brain is just not set up for this and with attention deficit disorder my brain starts to wander. I am not going to use that as excuse or even a crutch I have had it long enough that I know how to work through it. Now that I have taken Writing 101s I have leaned a lot of structure and discipline and my writing has come a long way even though it is not perfect. I still…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

In school, we have been required to write many papers on many different subjects, some being timed and others not. Writing has never been something that has come easy to me, especially when put on the spot and told to write a paper in a certain amount of hours. When I write, I like to have time to think and plan my essay. Being able to revise and edit the paper makes it even better than it was before. When I am given the time to plan my essay, the writing has more depth than when I am put on the spot and have no time to think about what will go into my paper.…

After being out of school and away from the school atmosphere for so many years, I didn't really know what to expect. I knew the semesters were short and the work load would be large but, that was about it. My wife, who graduated from UMUC tried sharing some of her experiences with me to help me get prepared but, it didn't click until I actually started classes. I was able to learn and benefit from a variety of new things from the class. The biggest hurdle in the class for me was time management. I quickly realized in order to be successful in the class I would need to improve my time management. After taking the Comfit Accuplacer and not doing well on it, I begin to ask myself, Is it possible for one to become a better writer within an eight week period? For the past eight weeks I have been in an intensive writing course that has challenged my writing skills, mind, and creativity. Having the opportunity to write a variety of different…

I always got good grades in English back in high school, but I was a student of the digital age so computers were always my backbone. They have document outlines for pretty much everything (essays, journals, letters etc.). Spelling and grammar check also play big roles in my writing today. I have to admit that if these tools were no longer available to me, and I had to depend on just paper and pen alone, I would have a rough time with my writing. As a matter of fact I used spelling and grammar check about ten times up to this point.…
