The purpose and benefits of encouraging and accepting feedback from others is important to improve oneself in your work. Take notice of feedback in all its forms – put all feedback in a curiosity frame: ask yourself how you can use it to avoid failures, or to repeat successes. Feedback can be both formal and informal in nature. E.g. formal feedback can be in a meeting and informal feedback can be between colleges asking how you were or how you did the last assignment.…

When it comes to writing a paper, I always want other to read my paper to make sure if I did the paper write. In this class, I got to talk to my classmates about my topic and share their ideas to narrow down the topic. It also helped me develop research questions. A peer review helped me realize my mistakes and develop more ideas. Those ideas not only helped write my paper in a different way, but it also showed me what else I need in my paper to make it a better essay. One of the things I really like about this class is the feedback from the instructor. Most instructors will only show the mistakes in an assignment, but Julia showed me exactly what I did wrong and how I could fix it. Julia showed us the techniques that I wanted to learn before I move on to my next class. These skill and techniques are the one I took into a count to use for my next classes.…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Writing has always been a method of communication throughout human history. Whether or not someone is considered a 'good' writer or not is often a matter of opinion, as the rules change for what makes a good story every day. Even those who may not write well have the power of communication in their hands. While most authors want to create a story that enraptures an audience, this power is developed over time and shows that everyone has the ability to write. Over the course of this term, both I and my classmates have developed our skills in order to prepare for the future and become better writers overall. Three things to consider about this semester is how I personally grew as a writer, what I have learned as a writer, and how I hope to develop…

One of my strong points as a student in English class is critically evaluating a poem or an article that we had previously read. I feel that I excelled the most in those assignments because expressing my opinion on paper along with critiquing is one of my better strengths. Another point that I feel that I am strong in is participating in open class discussions. I try to firmly explain my opinions to my classmates without disrespecting their own beliefs. One of my favorite assignments that we did in class was when we had the opportunity to pick an article out of a nationally known newspaper of our choice and select an article to read and to evaluate and critically analyze it. This assignment introduced the class to how to begin a critical review of an article, film, or an essay. I received a check plus on the assignment and have enjoyed the lessons ever since.…

In English 1 I learned getting to the point of my essays the hard way, I was forced to learn the significant use of a scratch paper. For example, I was not always used to writing my essays in a scratch paper, I always just thought about what I would say in my head hence, I tend to beat around the bush often. In my English class, our professor required us to submit our scratch papers along with our essays, with this I was forced to include my thoughts in my scratch paper and rewrite. It was a hard habit to learn, but as I’m writing one of my final essays now, all the writing and rewriting made it worth it.…

There are few a things that I have learned about myself when it comes to writing. The first thing would be that I procrastinate a lot. Second thing is, I always hand write my papers first before I type them. It's easier for me to think better when I am writing rather than typing. Third thing would be to always reread your own paper out aloud by yourself. I started to read my own paper outlawed not the long ago, it seemed to help me catch my own masticks.…
