Dear Mei Li,
How are you? I hope you are in pink of health, we never contacted each other after the English Society Annual Dinner. I have attended a ‘Reading Awareness’ camp recently, this camp was organized by district education office. I feel this event is quite interesting, I want to share with you here.
This event was held last week, we congregated in our school hall. The main purpose of this event is raise awareness of reading. Students are encouraged to read newspaper such as Star and New Straits Times. The benefits or reading newspapers in posse is in helping student’s command of languages. Students would be able to broadens their minds at the same time improve their vocabulary.
Later, our principal brought us to public library. All the students in our districts were participate, we had 100 students to join in. During the event, we had an essay writing competition, students have to write 350 words in one hour. The others activities like general knowledge quiz, I also quite excited when all the candidates tried their best to answer all the questions given. We have fun too because we help them to ‘pump up’ their confidence to order to win the prize.
All the winners get the prizes at the end of activities. The prizes were quite attractive and useful They got gift vouchers to buy book in MPH and received 2GB of thumb drive worth 90 ringgit.
