Pursuing My Educational Goals
There are many challenges facing my generation today: the unrest within the nation, people who go to bed hungry every night, and this spring, when I will be lucky enough to graduate from high school in the upper 10% of my class, there will be other students who are also graduating even though they cannot read their own diplomas. Because of this reason, I am thankful to be able to apply for admission to the University of Georgia to further my education. As a student, I share similar educational goals for academic success and am committed to becoming a better person as I pursue my college career.

While pursuing academic excellence, I have also been an active member of student council, a member of FBLA, a cheerleader and a member of _______. These pursuits have given me a visual perspective of society and introduced me to social and cultural differences which exist in society. A crowning event in my high school career was to be appointed to the Junior board of the Bank. With this appointment I have learned to work and share with a variety of adults who belong to many different cultural and social groups. These experiences including my academic and social background will enhance my studies and experiences at the University of Georgia.

The University of Georgia and I will make a good team as we continue to pursue educational challenges, cultural diversity, community involvement and leadership. Admission to the University of Georgia will allow me to continue my academic studies while working with a diverse group of individuals who respect the individuality of everyone. The University offers a wide variety of subjects and courses through specialized departments which will encourage personal growth and intellectual

Throughout, my high school years many teachers, family members, and friends have struggled to push the students to do more within their school. Many said that they wanted to leave behind a story, still several students never fully understood the teacher's reasons. However, after properly maturing and developing while in school, I have learned the importance of making a ‘legacy’ for yourself. Every so often I wondered what was the point of attending a place for a reasonable amount of time and not making memories. For this reason, if I was allowed to be a part of Howard’s student body I would acknowledge the hardship and struggle of many that weren't allowed to attend college; by doing this my action would, hopefully, reflect on other individuals, while giving many the inspiration to make a…
