0.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Improving the socio-economic status (SES) of women is often measured as a combination of education, income, and occupation. When viewed through a social class lens, privilege, power, and control are emphasized. Furthermore, an examination of SES as a gradient or continuous variable reveals inequities in access to and distribution of resources. The gender role imposed on “females” by the society and expectations of the society from females result in the deprivation of some of their human rights (Anonymous,2008a). Although we are in the 21st century, such equality, unfortunately, has not yet been achieved in developing countries. Women, who are one of the basic constituents of society, should be given the same status accorded to men in education, business, home life, production/access to resources and consumption; if gender equality should be achieved.
