Project managers are the people responsible for coordinating actions of the project team member to attain project objectives. This includes scheduling, implementation and direction the people, resources and capacity of the project. They have the authority to create clear and realistic objectives and to look them through successful completion.
To meet the project desire project management is the appliance of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities. Project managers are not only meeting the needs and outlook of the persons involved in or affected by project activities, they also meet the specific scope, time, cost and quality goals of projects. They also have the responsibility and authority to complete the assigned project. An effective project manager is crucial to a project’s success. Project managers work with the project sponsors, the project team and the other people involved in a project to meet project goals.
1) Responsibilities as an IT project manager?
The responsibilities of project manager are as follows:
Understand the IT Project requirements and kick start the project initiation. Lead the project resources and determine the needed process as laid down by the organization.
Understand the project size and if needed modularize it. Identify the project risk and come up with a Risk mitigation plan.
Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan and Crave out project charter, scope, assumptions.
Recording and managing project issues and escalating where necessary. Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
Resolving cross-functional or technical issues at the project level. Monitoring project progress and performance.
Create work break down structure, Estimates time, cost and quality.
Providing status reports to the project sponsor / stake holders and also communicates the progress to project board/senior management. Managing project training within the defined budget as
