Pet Peeves: Foul Language Many people use foul language every single day. I hear at least one curse word a day while at school. I have no interest in hearing someone cuss because I don’t cuss. There is a reason it is called foul language. If you were supposed to constantly use curse words they would teach you how to use them in school, and it wouldn’t be called foul language. Most people think that cussing makes them sound big and bad. In reality, it makes them sound unintelligent because they can’t find words to replace their curse words.

A personal example of this happened one day at lunch when I was a freshman. There was a group of boys that sit behind us every day that constantly cuss. Most of these boys were the same age as me with only a few juniors as exceptions. They were arguing about something stupid and the only words coming out of their mouths that weren’t cuss words were simple words like is and were. After trying, and failing, to block them out I finally turned around and politely asked them to stop cussing. They told me to shut up and leave them alone because they had a right to say whatever they want.

There are many people who don’t want to hear foul language, or don’t want their children to hear cursing. If people wanted their little ones to hear foul language they would constantly speak fouly. You wouldn’t take a four year old to see Wolverine because you wouldn’t want him or her to pick up that kind of language.
