Personal Narrative: My First Day Of Football
As I stepped outside of the car, I realized how nice of a day it was. It was not the hottest day of the summer. It had to be about 94 degrees, but there was a nice breeze that would make the practice nice. This was only the fourth day of football practice and I was so excited. Today was a defensive day and defense was my favorite. I was always early for practice, I had a lot of time to relax and look at film of the practices before today. It was weird today because I was the only person in the locker room. I couldn’t even find Coach Carty who was always in his office. That wasn’t my problem so I just sat in my locker and listened to some music. Right now I had a great feeling to how the season was going to go. Our team looked good and I thought I was going to get some playing time for the varsity football team. Then Coach Carty walked into the locker room. He was surprised because I was the only player in there. We talked for a little bit about how I was doing this week and what we were going to do this practice. He seemed happy about my performance and I was excited to see what I’ll do this season. As we finished our conversation, more and more players came into the locker room. …show more content…
People came up to me asking why I was talking to Coach Carty, but my response was the same every single time “Oh, we were just talking about practice and what we were going to do.” By the time all of the players were in the locker

In the locker room I hear the murmuring of the girls talking about their day and the rustling of them getting their jerseys and shoes on. Coach walks in, the room silences. He gives his speech, his voice echoing off the lockers, everyone hanging on his words. Then we huddle, we talk game strategy and whose armpit smells the prettiest.…

I sit in that smelly sweat stained locker room, all I can think about is whether or not I practice hard enough or pushed myself to the limit. I change alone in my corner with my music up, trying not to think too much as I get pumped up. Jesse makes me jump as he slaps my pads when he walks by. Laughing, he asks me if I was set; grabbing my stick and slapping my hands together saying I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. Who knew that from the beginning things would fall downhill fast, the other team would be much more skilled and our team being devastated and that I would crumble in my moment to save what little respect my team had left?…

This month is crucial for anyone who wants to get a hint of playing time on Friday nights. Any of the guys who play football will do anything to get on the field, if a coach asks you to play a position they will do it just to get playing time. In my situation, I had two seniors fighting for my spot on the offensive line. I knew that both of them did not want to sit on the sidelines and watch some sophomore play in a spot they could of had. So the month of july I had to play and do almost everything perfect to earn a spot on varsity football. The camp was just wrapping up and I was to be told if I was going to be stay or be brought back down to the sophomore level. It was a super hot Wednesday, I could see the heat beating off the black track. As waves of heat beamed up of the turf /Coach came up to with the sternest look on his…

On January 26th, I made a huge error in my basketball game against West Central. To anybody else, that game might have seemed unimportant- insignificant really. They were not a conference rival or a sectional team. To me however, this game was very significant because I used to attend that school. At that game, I played all of my friends from kindergarten to fifth grade. I hoped that I didn’t make a fool of myself. I hoped to do amazing so that all of my old friends would see what a great basketball player I had become. I hoped that I would make a play so amazing that everyone would remember it. While I would certainly not forget the play I made, it was not the spectacular one I had dreamed. My gym teacher- Mr. Prairie asked the class, “Who’s ready for the basketball game tonight against West Central,” and I wondered if I was. Because of my insistent worrying I could not manage to make a play through all of gym class (we were playing basketball)…

I decided to advocate to the coach about my involvement in the practices as a player. As I walked into the hot and humid office of the coach, I waited until he was not as busy with his work. As the fan turned, he finally stopped what he was doing, “What’s up, Ariana?” the coach voiced. I explained my aspirations to play basketball. As I spoke, I watched his face, trying to get a sense of what he was thinking. After I stopped talking, I waited for his answer. He moved around as if it would help him figure out what to say when he knew his answer was…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

8:01 AM, I’ve got just enough time to finish the last question on my history homework before the first bell rings. I was weaving my way through the crowd on my way to the library when my friend Josh interrupted my plan. He dragged me over to him saying, “Ty! Ty! I’ve got to tell you something.” Josh explained that he wanted me to join the Baseball team because of the new coach that signed up for the job. Immediately I interrupted saying, “There is a new coach?”. Josh explained that the coach was from a team that went to the state championship a couple years back. He thinks the new coach really going to really help me if I join, because I was not the “best” player last year. “Bzzzzzz” the bell was ringing for class. As I was walking toward first…

After sitting at the same desk for three years, I figured I was beyond seeing anything new. I was wrong. It was the beginning of the school year and I was hoping I would pass twelfth grade so I could try to go to college but right now chances looked slim. I am the classic couch potato, plump like a pig and lazy, that was why I couldn't pass. Over time I began to realize that I would need to alter my ways or I would spend a miserable life. I resolved to lift weights and run every day and get into shape and try a lot harder in school. I was fit and I had never played sports, so when school came I joined the football team. I studied the playbook hard and memorized the plays so that when they called a play I instantly saw what was going to…

My first goal was to complete a 200 pound bench press. I selected this goal because I wanted more power in football. My second goal was to do 75 consecutive push ups. I chose this goal because push ups are a great exercise to increase your bench press. My third goal was to get really cut and lower my body fat percentage. I increase cardio and changed to a healthier diet to achieve this goal. My fourth goal was to weight 150lbs. I chose this goal because having some extra weight will help me on the football field. I tried to make these goals reasonable and with a lot of hard work I was able to achieve 2 of them.…

Starting soccer when I was only five years old was challenging because of my October birthday I had to play with all the six year olds. My parents had put me in soccer because I was a young boy filled with too much energy. After playing soccer for about a year I decided I wanted to do more, I loved the sport. I started playing club soccer when I was 7 years old, playing for under the wing of Charley Amblo. This was a training team only, it was not till I was nine that I was started playing for a travel team. This was the beginning of where I learned my leadership, time management, and teamwork dynamics.…
