Personal Narrative: My Favorite Football Team Play At Lambeau Field
The one event in my life I will always remember is seeing my favorite football team play. My dream of seeing the Greenbay Packers play at Lambau Field is now going to be a reality. One day after a long day at work, I stopped into my hometown sports bar to watch Monday night football. The guys and I always razz each other about our favorite teams, as all guys do. A longtime friend of mine, Tim, came in to the bar a short time after. I haven’t seen Tim in quite some time so, of course I was excited to see him. Tim said he came there looking for me because he had a surprise for me. I could not even imagine what it might be. Tim reached into his pocket and pulled out what looked to be some sort of tickets. Somehow, Tim landed two tickets to go see the Greenbay Packer vs. the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field in October. Tim, knowing what a huge Greenbay fan I am, said, “I don’t know anyone who I would rather enjoy going on a road trip to Greenbay with than you.” “Want to go?” I could not say “yes” fast enough. The game was two months away, so I had plenty of time to make arrangements. I put in for the time off work and, of course, I had …show more content…
The next morning we parked our coolers and headed to the stadium. It was time to do some serious tailgating! This was an amazing experience the fans were awesome and so much fun. The time has come. Time to enter the stadium to watch the Greenbay Packers play the Chicago Bears. Now, at this point, I haven’t been in the stadium. The sound of 78,000 fans cheering on their teams was totally awesome. We found our seats and settled in to watch the big game, with a beer and a couple of hot dogs of course. When Greenbay came onto the field the crowd went nuts. The experience of watching a game in real life as opposed to television was an experience I can’t explain. It gave me

Nothing can be brought to the mind without going forth to observe what is around us. We would not be capable of sensing and tasting scrumptious nourishments. We would not experience either ear-piercing nor congested audiences. None of us would be doing recreational activities either. Nevertheless, Bill Snyder Family Stadium is one of the most jaw-dropping…

I went to a tailgate for the USC vs. Vanderbilt away game given by Carolina After Dark and I had a blast! I honestly did not know what to expect. I was not planning on going, but decided to meet two of my friends there right before halftime. I was pleasantly surprised. They had really cool music playing and there were people dancing everywhere. It was overall such a fun atmosphere. It took me awhile to find my friends because there were so many people. I was so surprised at how many people were there. There were no seats left near my friends so I sat on the floor next to them. They had two huge white screens that they were projecting the game onto. It was so cool when USC did something good because the whole crowd would act like they were really…

The day had finally come. No it wasn't Christmas or the New Year, Kwanza or even Easter. It was the the most glorious day of all days, the Superbowl. Now for anyone who has never heard of the Superbowl and lives in America, that person has either lived in a cave for their whole life or…well that I think would be safe to say that's probably the only case because everyone knows what the Superbowl is. Anyway, this Superbowl Sunday started off just a little bit different than most Superbowl's I've had off from work and for any of this day to make any sense for anyone that wasn't there, I'm going to have to start by including some background information on the previous events that led up to this day.…

Outside the Coliseum is the diehard, devoted fan base. At 7 am the parking lot is filled with diehard fans that come early to tailgate prior to the game. As you make your way to the entrance of the Coliseum the spices and smell of perfectly seasoned food attacks your senses. You can’t help but notice the camaraderie and friendships formed while the alcohol flows. It is in the parking lot you see the dedication and years of loyalty displayed by its fans. In the front row nearest to the stadium stands the most dedicated fan. An older man, scruffy looking stands next to his Winnebago. He is dressed in the traditional garbs for the day. His Winnebago is covered from front to back in Cardinal and Gold; from his speakers blares the schools song ‘Fight On’. Walking by he gives you the greeting of the day ‘Fight on’ and talks about the upcoming slaughter that is to commence…

Imagine 96.9 million people watching the same thing, ingesting copious amounts of food and beer, and cheering maliciously for a squad that may or may not be their team of choice. I grew up in South Africa where the Super bowl is not nearly as big as it is in the United States. I was naive to the idea of watching any big game besides the World Cup. When I moved to the US I did not know what the Super bowl was. 198 countries watch the Super bowl and it is aired in 25 different languages across the world. I can’t help but think to myself that this is just a game and I don’t really care who wins, even though my surrounding suggested otherwise. I am sitting in a room full of diehard Seahawks fans. All of the furniture has been moved to each wall in the little room so that everyone can see the big flat screen TV. Beers are cracked, chip bags are opened, and we are about to watch the most watched TV program in United States history, the Super Bowl. Bronco’s fans are turned away and the guys roar at them as they try to enter the small apartment. “If you are not supporting the Seahawks you can stand up and get the hell out” one of my friends yelled as non-supporters walked away. Bud Light is the beer of choice in the room and Doritos are the chip of choice. As the game is about to start the room ignites and everyone is immediately fired up. The commercials play through the loud chatter in the apartment and they seem to be unimportant except for a few that are considered memorable. The Super Bowl is a spectacle and there is nothing else like it. The Super Bowl is a large reflection of American culture. Through media, commercials, and the atmosphere that this game creates, patriotism and masculinity are unintentionally the main aspects of this spectacle.…

Quite possibly the most significant time of my life was during my senior year as part of the Edison High School football team. The story of our 2006 season is a reflection of my life and testimony to my beliefs and values. Underdogs from day one, we represented not only our school, but also our community and families. Early expectations of the 2006 Eagles were low and the surrounding community was under the belief that Edison would be lucky to go 6-4 with the inexperienced players and the loss of such a talented senior class. Suddenly, I was starting as the outside linebacker/defensive end for the first time in my career along with 18 brand new starters. Unexpectedly, a green group of replacements were 5-0, half-way through our season. After…

The October air was brisk, the sun had set, and the moon had risen. The lights and speakers could be seen and heard from miles away. The night had taken over everywhere except inside the Varsity Stadium where time seemed to stand still on friday nights with a thousand or two fans of all ages in attendance. This is Michigan high school football. Every year there is one game that has more fans and more energy, the homecoming game. Playing in this game is like a movie or video game. You have the spotlight on you. As a sophomore in high school, this was my first time playing in a homecoming game. This game changed will have an everlasting effect. Nothing says football to me like, the smell of my mom's famous hot wings frying or dressing up in purple and gold to cheer on my beloved Minnesota Vikings. I have learned through my years of cheering for the team, that being a Vikings fan means putting up with those “Cheese-heads” from the state next door. I believe the Vikings vs. Packers rivalry is one of the greatest in the NFL. I've found this to be true not only through my family traditions, but also from witnessing player and fan behaviors, and simply the geographic placement of these two bordering states on the map.…

The stadium was filled to full capacity with women, men, and children. I could not spot an empty seat in the place. Many spectators were dressed in colors of black, blue, and gold. However, the overall majority of the crowd was dressed in black and red. After the singing of the National Anthem, the football teams flooded the field in grandiose fashion. The crowd became ecstatic. The fans were cheering so loud that neither my girlfriend nor I could hear each other. The first quarter of the game seemed rather dull and mediocre, however by the second quarter, things had become incredibly intense. At the commencement of the second quarter, I could see athletes perform almost superhuman feats such as running, jumping, and throwing. The athletes appeared to be demigods with helmets and modern day gladiators. One player got hit so hard that he was carted off the field. Nonetheless, the game continued without a skipping a beat. During the second quarter, fans continued to cheer and chant for their teams. As the masses roared, the players responded by playing more aggressively. As the game went on, each team proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Each time one team scored, the other team replied with a score of their own. The back and forth scoring kept the fans on edge and tense. By the end of the second quarter, the game had become tied with only the second half…

Football is an amazing sport that most people enjoy watching and playing. There are some games that can be surprising like these two teams who played on a Friday night Ely Tigers and Dillard Panthers. A series of people who wasn't able to attend wonder what really happened and just how great of a catch it was when Donnel Wilson caught the winning touchdown pass. After we got to the city, we spended some time going around it and looking at some other things in the city. Next morning we got up, then got on the tram to the game, it was a 30 minute wait, but it was so worth it because I got to see the houses, how they build them there, the parks, this long and big river right beside the stadium. We finally got there, but we couldn’t go inside because the NFL is not letting people inside with normal bags, we hid the bag inside a bush then we got to go inside the stadium. They played the Jets and I got to see a lot the Steelers players like Antonio Brown, Big Ben. I got to eat a hot dog, popcorn, some other candies. But it was so good, but so much money to get food there. My seats were on the 50 yard line and the weather was sunny, but cool. But the most important time was spending time with…

It was a crisp cold fall day at Lambeau field. I could see everything that was happening the whole entire time. The field was as green as a tree in the middle of Summer. The cold wind was whistling in my ear. The smell the hot dogs, burgers, and turf from the field filled my nose as the game begin. All I could hear were people cheering on the Packers and the jumbotron blaring, “Go pack go!” I could see the running back Eddie Lacy drive the ball into the end zone and everyone went wild. A mix people cheering and screaming filled my ears. After the opposing team returned the ball everyone started cheering, “Defense, defense, defense!” The watched the ball get intercepted and run down the field for another touchdown! The crowd roared and I got…

Nearly every Sunday afternoon in fall just about anywhere in Wisconsin you will likely find most people cheering on the green and gold. While watching a game at Lambeau Field is an incredible experience, my Sunday’s revolve around being with my family during game time and watching from the luxury of our own living room. I look forward to this Sunday routine every week: waking up early to attend 9:30 mass at St. Teresa Church, off to the grocery store to stock up on Packer party essentials, and then kickoff begins. By game time the table is loaded with mounds of freshly baked goodies and an assortment of lunchtime snacks. Our Sunday’s best include sporting your desired Packer jersey, my dad and I both support #12 for Aaron Rodgers. I love watching…
