Personal Narrative: My Eating Patterns
My eating patterns are probably not the best. I don’t really eat breakfast. If I do it’s usually something light like a banana or a yogurt. I only started doing that about a year ago. Because I was told that you should eat during the first hour after you wake up. I eat a lot of salads. I try to have a salad at least once a day. I love vegetables. I do love fruit but, I don’t eat a lot of it as often as I should. In 2013, I was told I was pre-diabetic. So I made changes to my diet as I only eat turkey, chicken, or fish. I never liked fish, but when my doctor told me I needed to eat fish, I did. I rarely eat ground chuck. I occasionally have a burger or beef tacos to treat myself. I’m Italian, so pasta and bread was a big part of my diet. Now I eat gluten free or whole wheat …show more content…
If I eat rice, I eat brown rice. I didn’t want to become a diabetic. My diet did a whole 360. My exercise routine consists of walking my dog Bella, using my treadmill at home, and going to the gym. My exercise fluctuates when I have the time. I’m usually good with keeping my routine, but as of lately I haven’t had the time. I became a foster relative of my niece and nephew. They are two and a half year old twins. They keep me pretty active. When I’m in school it is harder to stay with my exercise routine. I also have had a lot of medical issues lately. I have kidney stones again. So I will have to have surgery to have the stones removed. Because I can’t pass my kidney stones at all. When I got a CT scan for my kidneys they found something on my liver. The doctor also suggested that I get weight loss surgery. I have lots of health issues due to my weight. So I decided to have the weight loss surgery. I know that once I have the surgery. My body and organs won’t have so much stress on them. I weigh 305

I remember anxiously waiting for 9:00 o’clock so we could go explore the store. The grocery store could be kind of spooky during the night but this didn’t bother us too much because we would be busy playing tag or hide and seek throughout the store. The grocery store has seven aisles. Aisles 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are nothing special but aisle 6 is divided into in half by a variety of items as well as a candy box ( I don’t know what else to call it).…

As a Chinese-American, my family expected me to help out at the restaurant while maintaining straight A's in school. But, it wasn't easy; every day, I would report to the restaurant after school and immediately start working. Inside the kitchen, I would pack all the orders into aluminum containers, place them into a brown bag, and insert packets of sauces and utensils. Burns and cuts were common due to the terrible and tearable aluminum containers. Outside at the front desk, I would answer the seemingly endless ringing phones. In many instances, customers had to wait either on the phone or at the front desk for me to find their orders on the computer, even after they showed me where it was on the menu. During lunch hours, the pressure was even…

Last year I was prit near 375 lbs and I knew something had to give. I have tried, low fat, low cal, counting macros and everything. I always still would gain! I would eat veggies and lean meat keeping under 1200 calories sometimes 800 when frustrated, I'd still wake up weighing more. Well to be honest, I believe the food pyramid is very, very inaccurate. I sometimes watch shows like my 600 lb life, for motivation for myself, because I need it still! I was to a point in my life I couldn't walk or stand more than 5 minutes! I'd have to sit on a chair to do dishes, I felt useless anymore honestly. One day something clicked and I seen a friend who posted about her 210 lb weight loss and started to read. I was blown away! I started it and I won't lie, I went out with a bang! Made a huge chocolate cake 13x9 and we ate half of it. I canned the rest. Within the first 3 days I was 5 lbs down! I couldn't believe it, without any exercise! People say oh you can't do that, but you can! You simply have to eat the RIGHT foods! 60% carbs isn't for us! That's what was set up by a group of people who think they know everything! They don't! But anyways if you want to learn how to eat the correct macros and learn to lose weight without worry, then this is for you! Ooh you have to give up some things! But tell yourself YOU'RE WORTH IT! I know what it feels like to hurt everyday and not be able to function and go out to the store cause you just cannot walk.…

The results from my three day intake some of the food s in my recorded daily intake that provided protein were bananas, burrito, Popeye’s chicken, pizza hut stuffed crust, whole milk, spitz sunflower seeds, Cheeseburger, chocolate muffin just about everything I ate had protein in it my Carbohydrates were hand and hand with my protein the list was the same as for the lips it was also pretty close to the others my food intake is nothing close to the Dri mine were way above the standard I can improve by cutting out all the fast food its killing me according to DRI and I need to drink a lot more water or foods with more moisture. I eat more complete proteins but really lack the incomplete this is important to know because there needs to be a good balance between the two one shouldn’t be too far away from the other not being this way could cause some serious health issues high cholesterol obesity and even death. I was very surprised by my numbers I received because I’ve never really thought about what I ate until now my carbohydrates protein and lipids intake was almost double what it should be to fix this problem I would have to cut out a lot of fast food and drink plenty more water and let go of some of the snacks I eat and replace them with a fruit or something a lot more healthy than my usually choices.…

Before I was saved, I lived a very unhealthy lifestyle. Being the youngest in my family, I was constantly spoiled and protected. This led me to become a very prideful and ignorant child. I thought the world was great, my life was great, and I was great. Now I am not saying any of those things are not true, but my views changed quite a bit once I hit middle school. My sister had moved onto college at this point and I was alone to tackle middle school. I discovered a lot during those years but my biggest discovery was probably about my family. I learned that they weren’t the perfect figures I thought they were. My parents fought constantly and that left me devastated. On top of being spoiled and arrogant, I was also depressed.…

To this day, I have been aware of my eating habits as well as my need to secure exercise as a part of my life. As a part of eating healthy, eating low carb has always been a favorable choice for my family. That is to say, eating 20, or fewer, carbohydrates per day, while also eating high in protein, has been very effective for my family. This may seem like a difficult task, but in the long run, I know it’s worth it. If I do happen to obtain a disease, I’ll have a greater chance fighting the disease if I am healthier than to fight the disease when I am unhealthy.…

Throughout elementary school I was a shy individual. Consequently, I disliked my peers reading my literary work and I utterly despised class presentations. Yet in grade six, I was tasked with the assignment of composing an argumentative essay based the idea that “restaurants create obesity”. I had written a pro argument with various sub points including the proposition that restaurants encourage weight gain and subsequently diabetes. Even at my young age, I was very aware that my audience was my class mates, one of which had diabetes. I recall being so terrified that my essay would offend her and my classmates, that I nearly refused to present. Yet after arguing my points, I not only won the debate but my classmate with diabetes also approached me to say that she agree with me and that…
