Personal Narrative-Kee Consistent Exercising
I’m glad I was able to push myself to get to that point! It was my mission to change everything about me, that I could change with exercise. Whenever I started talking to people about it, they talked as though it was impossible to do. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I knew that couldn’t be right! That caused me to research my theory, to see if it was true. Once I was able to find information that supported my theory, I started to create a plan to get my desired result. I stood in the mirror and looked at all the things about me, that I felt like I could change. My first focus was, targeting the things that I’d heard people say, exercise couldn’t change. I started looking at who was saying it couldn’t be done. My first thought was, they gave up too quick. That’s the one thing that I didn’t want to do! I did it like that because, after hearing it so much, they almost had me believing the flaws were unchangeable. Something in me kept telling me to …show more content…
It reduced the cellulite. I was able to get rid of the FAT saggy belly and tone my stomach. It reduced the stretch marks. I became flexible enough to be able to do the splits. I also became flexible enough to be able to touch my knees with my nose, while standing up. I even got compliments on looking younger. Working on these areas turned out much better I thought it would. When I realized how simple it was, I was wishing that I’d done it sooner. It would’ve saved me a whole lot of embarrassment and unnecessary misery. In spite of all the negative feedback that I’d heard about improving different parts of the body, I kept moving forward. I knew it was possible to get the type of results that I was looking to get. It was too many good examples of people who had already reached that goal, for me not to keep going. Throughout the course of the last nine weeks, my eyes have been opened to an entirely new world full of nutritional and exercising information. It is rough being a thirty-three year old husband and father, with an eye on trying to remain on this planet for as long as humanly possible. As parents, we all have goals we want to achieve. The usual suspects include seeing your children graduate high school and then college, walking your daughter down the aisle of her wedding, and being able to retire and continue to live a healthy and happy life. What I have come to realize through this nutritional and exercising information is that in order to accomplish this goal, there are certain aspects of my life that I need to change. I am not a particularly healthy eater. I do not exercise regularly. I mostly do what I can with the time I have available. I suspect this problem plagues many men across this country and around the world. In my state, the obesity rate is close to 30% and it continues to trend upward (Centers for Disease Control, 2011). Without a drastic change in lifestyle, I am simply adding to the statistics. The knowledge I have gained in this course has led me to believe that this is simply unacceptable. Something has to change, and I have a plan to make that happen.…

My goal is to become either a physical therapist or an athletic trainer and help out many athletes who struggle to get back to their normal body. I had two injuries during two consecutive high school golf seasons: a muscle strain in the back and a collarbone fracture. After a week of physical therapy after my surgery on my right collarbone, I started to be able to carry my backpack with one shoulder and write with my right hand. Two month after physical therapy, I was able to hit my driver. Then I realized something quite surprising; as I started to practice, my driver started to go further and further. My coaches had the same reaction as they both asked me if the story of the collarbone incident was actually true.…

This behavior change project was to increase the amount of exercise I did daily. My goal was to do several exercises once daily for a total of seven days. The data that I collected from doing my exercise daily showed that I was doing about 30 to 45 minutes of activity a day. I usually exercised in the morning when I woke up; I also did a few active things throughout the day, such as, walk, play sports, and go for a run. My goal for changing this behavior was to see if the daily exercise would make me feel more refreshed throughout the day. I realized that doing the exercises in the mornings when I woke up made me feel better throughout the day and it was easier for me to focus in classes.…

I found the biggest guy in the gym, and asked him what he did. He directed me to “Starting Strength” by Mark Rippetoe. He told me to follow the 5X5 program, eat everything in sight. I ate tubs of ice cream, a couple of foot long subs for lunch washed down with a liter of chocolate milk . My mom became accustomed to making meals for a second family. If I was awake I was eating, mostly things I shouldn’t be. I added 50-150lbs on my three major lifts Bench, Squat, and Deadlift. Still I wasn’t happy when I looked in the mirror; I was 276 pounds of mostly fat.…
