Personal Narrative Essay: The Expense Paid Trip To Hawaii
How many people can say that they were offered and all-expense paid trip to Hawaii for two weeks? Last summer my grandparents paid for my whole family to come to Hawaii with them and stay on the island of Oahu for one week and The Big Island for another week. Many people say that being away from home for so long makes you homesick. However, from my personal experience I miss Hawaii everyday now that I am back in Oklahoma. In fact, my goal is to one day go back to Hawaii for college and to start my life after school as an islander.

On the morning of June 3rd 2014, my family and I had been running around like crazy trying to make sure we had everything for our trip to Hawaii before the shuttle got there to take us to the airport. I had never flown on an airplane before nor have I

" Not yet, still just overwhelmed with excitement!" I would tell them. My grandparents paid for my parents, my brother , my boyfriend at the time, and myself to go to Hawaii. On top of paying for the trip they gave my brother, my boyfriend and I 500$ each to spend. My parents got $1,000. We were all so grateful.

After we ate a few donuts and got everything as in order as they could be, the shuttle arrived. That is when I got nervous to get on an airplane. I went to my two dogs, Bella an English Bulldog and Casper my ten year old Pit Bull and gave them kisses bye. We all went outside with our luggage and loaded up the shuttle van. Our driver's name was Chris and he was very friendly and funny. He told us about his son in the marines and my papa, a marine himself, told him all about when he was in active duty. My papa served in the Vietnam war in 1969 and 1970. They chatted the whole ride to the airport. I was silent. I was nervous

We got to the airport and it was so cool. I remember seeing a food court of really good food places and little shops along the terminal. It was 8:00 A.M. but when I saw they had Moe's Burritos, I couldn't help but stop and get a

Going to Southern California, no one would think of packing an umbrella. Why would they? California is in the middle of a drought. When someone thinks of California, they think of baby blue skies and palm trees along the streets. But, of course, the weekend my family decided to visit Disneyland, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld is the weekend Southern California experienced what the local news called a “tropical depression.”…

I woke up tired on a beautiful, sunny, Tuesday morning. It was the day I had to fly to San Francisco for my job on a cruise ship. I had been in between cruises, so I had taken the chance to come see my parents in Newark, New Jersey. Later I realized that it could have cost me dearly. I changed into my pressed, white, long sleeved shirt with khaki pants and my sailors hat that I had to wear for my job as a deckhand. I arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport a hour before my flight, where I hug my parents goodbye. I walk in and go through security easily and go to my gate and wait for thirty minutes until we would be able to board.…

In the past, our family normally makes plans to go on a trip. So this year we decided to travel to Washington D.C. with my grandparents. My parents told us at around Christmas time and said that we were supposed to leave during spring break. I couldn’t wait! We were going all the way down to Washington D.C.! There were a couple of requirements though. For example, we had to keep the whole house spotless without anything on the floors, and we had to stay out of trouble. It was a little struggling for a while, but it was soon over.…

We just got off the plane and we are in Atlanta, Georgia. We came from Ohio and it was about an hour and a half to Atlanta. Atlanta is the biggest airport in the U.S.A. They had a big food court and a lot of shops to shop in. We were heading to gat D. We had to take the train, but we had to stop at A, B, C, and then finally, D. We had to go through security and that was the worst part. When we finally got finished with security we waited at our gate. After we got on the plane we took our seats then started to fly. I loved it when it was going up in the air because it felt like it was a roller coaster and you had that feeling like your belly is hollow. My sister and I watched the movie Pitch Perfect 2. It took about 312hours to get there but it…

I remember my first day in America like it just happened yesterday! I moved to America from India when I was just 12 year old. When I started my journey to America, I was getting mixed feelings, one side I was excited to go to America I saw in movies and wanted to be a part of great American culture but on the other side I was feeling sad about leaving behind my friends and place I was born and spent my childhood. But when Pilot announced that we are about to reach to Houston in 30 minutes I got anxious and opened my seat window. When I looked Houston through plane window, cars on freeway looked like ants’ running in one line and that was really interesting to me.…

Since I have never been on an airplane, I have only traveled by car I was confused what to pack in my suitcase. I was so nervous and happy that I bought everything a week before the trip. Then two days before I started packing my suitcase because I didn’t know what to pack and plus I didn’t want to forget something important. I was texting my teacher to ask what I would be able to take on the plane and how much the suitcase should weigh because ever since the 9/11 attack, everything has changed so I didn’t know what I could take and what I couldn’t. Finally the day had come for my group and me to go to México.…

It was in July of 1998 that I had flown on my first airplane. I turned over my boarding pass and stared at the large plane from outside the window. I walked down a long corridor that was connected to the aircraft. To my surprise, the inside was a lot smaller than it had appeared to be. The isle I strode to get to my window seat was small and compact, only large enough for one person to pass through. After I took my seat and fastened my seatbelt the flight attendants went over the safety precautions. They were all very benevolent and explained to all the passengers what we were to do in case of an emergency. I had kept reminding myself that it was more likely for someone to die in a car accident than a plane crash, or so I have read. The pilot started down the runway and as the plane went faster my stomach sank with excitement. As the pilot pulled the plane into the sky I thought to myself “wow this is a lot like a roller-coaster ride.” While we glided into the air I smiled and stared out the window at the glorious view. It was night time and all the city lights were bright and striking. I had even seen what appeared to be a portrayal, a bear of some sort, composed of different colored lights, as if it were meant only for me.…

This is the best moment of my life and I honestly cannot wait to start my adventure. However, I realised that it is a series of misadventures. As we were waiting in line to check in, the airline service staff approached me and asked for my name. He then informed us that we were in the wrong queue and were the only two passengers that have not checked in. I was even more horrified when he informed us that most of the passengers were already on board of the plane. My cousin apologized and said something before the plane took off. That was the last thing I want to hear on my first plane…

I rolled over in bed to look at my clock. It was 9:57 am. My plane leaves in two hours! I quickly jumped out of bed and threw on the clothes I had laid out the night before. Then I went downstairs to fix myself a bagel. My husband Joe had already gone to work and taken our two daughters, Kim and Julie to school. He had left me a note on the fridge saying, “Good luck on the plane ride. I will be praying for you. I love you.” I had almost forgotten about my fear of riding planes! Ever since the 9/11 terrorists attacks when I was in the fifth grade, I have been…

Once we arrived at the airport, it seemed as if we came on the busiest day of the week! We had to maneuver around all of the people in order to check our bags and make it to the other side of the airport on time. I remember being amazed at the size of the airport and the fast pace that everything was moving. At one point while we were maneuvering, I focused on my fathers’ royal blue suitcase. What I was actually thinking about was getting some ice cream. I kept repeating, “Daddy can we go and get some ice cream please?” After a few times of asking that question, I looked up and realized that the suitcase did not…
