Personal Narrative: A Letter To Achilles Ratonhaketon
I, Ratonhaketon, son of Chieftain Kanensoto, am alive and still enjoying good health and hoping that this may find you all the same. I cannot recall how long it has been since I have seen you all and not a single day has gone by that I have not missed and wondered how you are all doing. I wish I could return home and see you all again, but I cannot as I found a new home and family in this land. Instead, I am embracing this opportunity of addressing you in what the pale ones call a letter as I am so eager to let you know of the many things I have learned in this strange, new world since my departure all those years ago. The only proper way to discuss my journey with you is to start from the very beginning, when I left home.
During our long crossing of the great salt sea, I befriended a man named Achilles Davenport. I learned through him some of his language and to help me communicate and assimilate better

Everyday, I learned more and more about these Europeans. Because the weather here is colder than at home, the Europeans are always wearing clothes. These clothes come in a great assortment of colors, some I did not even know existed. They also eat strange foods not native to our lands, which taste better than anything I have eaten. They use small tools to eat with as well and also drink a bitter red drink that can make your head spin. In my many interaction with Achilles friends. I learned that valor in battle does not determine reputation in this land. Instead, it depends more on a commodity called money and who you are born to. Those born to their king or so called nobles have more money, prestige, respect, and reputation than those who are not. I also learned that the men of this land only marry a single women as marrying multiple women is forbidden by their religion. I thought this was a very strange custom since it is normal for the men of our tribe

At the beginning of the year it felt like I would have never been able to write any paper that was more than two pages long, it just seemed impossible, but for the research paper I actually had to stop myself from going off and writing a twelve page paper. I will admit and say that English is not my strong suit, in fact it is probably one of my more difficult classes. But just because it is difficult does not mean I don’t like it. I like looking for topics that interest me and still fit in with the guidelines, I like getting involved in the paper and researching the topic until it feels like my head is about to explode. I never saw any of that coming, I thought that I was going to have to go through English and just pray…

I don’t remember much about how my family died, I was just a three year old boy; Keenan Waren. All I can remember is it was Thanksgiving day with my whole family. I know it was this day because the smell of the turkey was burnt into my memory, and it’s also what the people at the orphanage told me as I was growing up. Something else I can recall is seeing a tall, bulky shadow holding a green flame in his hand after the lights shut off. Everyone was screaming, but I am still unsure of what was happening to them. My mom carried me out into the rainy night in front of the house in my carseat, and I was crying for the teddy bear my aunt gave me for my first birthday. I kept crying, so my mom covered me with blanket and ran back inside to grab it…

During the 16th and 17th centuries, when the Europeans started to come over to the new world, they discovered a society of Indians that was strikingly different to their own. To understand how different, one must first compare and contrast some of the very important differences between them, such as how the Europeans considered the Indians to be extremely primitive and basic, while, considering themselves civilized. The Europeans considered that they were model societies, and they thought that the Indians society and culture should be changed to be very similar to their own.…

Throughout my academia, I have been a member of several clubs and organizations, but have yet to attend a free leadership and service conference. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars needs a free in-person event that hosts a multitude of workshops from becoming a better member, to becoming a better leader and more. This event should be a two-day weekend long including update meetings on how the organization is accomplishing its endeavors and goals in terms of membership count, influence in the community, and upcoming events. During a workshop, we could bring in experts to discuss how to become a better writer to increase our chances of earning NSCS scholarships and other scholarships. In another workshop, our members and club leaders…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…
