The school was named Greek High School. The name seemed a little generic since the island was off the coast of Greece. Justin had graduated two years ago and Jason graduated before that summer. So, I had to start school without having my brothers close if I needed them. This school operated differently than schools in America. They had sports that were more exciting like sword fighting, archery, horseback archery, martial arts, and horseback riding. Before the bell rang for the exciting first day of school, my friend Hailey went to grab someone. For the first time in a while there was someone new on the island. His name was Malik and he would be attending the same school as Hailey and I. I was introduced to him by Hailey. When I saw him from afar I was annoyed. I had recognized him as the kid who had been yelling with his brother for an hour. As he got closer I began to notice his physical

I learned a lesson all the way back in first grade, and that lesson has stuck with me ever since. I was coming in from recess, and I was talking to a friend of mine off to my left. Unfortunately, I was not watching where I was going. I kept barely taking glances of what was in front of me, and that was a huge mistake. Someone was running behind me, and wasn’t watching where they were going either. As I approached the building I heard yelling, but thought nothing of it. After all, recess had just finished, so obviously kids would be yelling, right? It turns out some kids had been playing tag, and decided to play until they got inside. One that was still running away, because God forbid he’d be “it,” was Nick.…

When I started Unity High School I thought that we were going to get a lot of work from my classes, and that work was going to be extremely hard. I also thought that I wasn't going to have any free time to do anything because of that, but it turned out to be wrong because the teachers give us a good amount of work but its not really hard. I thought that making friends in Unity would be hard in a sort of way but it was quit easy because everyone else was trying to make friends too. When I first got to Unity I also thought that there was going to be a few school clubs, but there is a good amount of clubs that students can join if they want to join some type of club. I think as a person I have grown more since first coming to Unity because I…

Most people do not have the ability to think of college without thinking of some sort of Greek life organization. Whether that thought is negative or positive may vary, but it is rare to think of any time in a college of any sort without thinking of a fraternity or a sorority at all. This is to be expected because most of these groups have somewhat dominated their campuses for hundreds of years, or since their particular chapters were formed. Supporters of Greek life, especially of fraternities, argue that being involved in Greek life organizations encourages brotherhood, the development of leadership skills, and the participation in philanthropic organizations throughout the students’ collegiate career.…

Greece’s culture is high context, which means that for the Greek culture the meaning of messages is determined by the context or the environment. Most of their communication is implicit. This is the reason why Greeks will interrupt what someone is saying while they try to figure out what is means. This is a common aspect of Greek communication. There are many greek influences on our culture today. However, these impacts are not very widely known in our modern society. The Greek culture affects our everyday way of life. They created democracy, the alphabet, libraries, the Olympics, math, science, architecture, and even lighthouses. Greecians created systems that would not be imagined in a person’s wildest dreams. They created things WELL that were way before their time. For example, democracy. If that is not an impact Greece has made on our culture, then I don’t know what is. This political system started in Athens, where it started as a Monarch, then grew to an oligarchy, until it finally reached a democracy. The government consisted of an assembly of 6,000 members that were all adult male citezens. The assembly voted on issues throughout Athens and passed laws. Our democracy in America is similar to this. Though the Greek democracy was not as polished and fair, it was still influencial to modern cultures. Something used every day, all over the world, not just in western civilization, is the alphabet. The Greeks were the first civilization to use the alphabet, and it’s usefullness spread throughout the globe. Today,…
