My mother just gave birth to my little brother when I started noticing the financial issues my family were facing. As a little girl, I do not know how our finances worked all I knew was many bills were due and I knew it because when I was a little girl I liked to practice reading and those bill statements were the papers that attracted my interest due to its colorful paper. We were at my cousin’s wedding when I noticed that she was not wearing her wedding ring. I immediately asked her where is her ring. She did not respond quickly and told me that she’ll explain it to me later. Once we got home she told me her sacrifice. It was a heart-breaking moment for me to know that she had to do it in order for me to get better. She then calmed me down by saying that I should not feel sad about it because her children are more important for her and, she just had to do what she can do. We tried to get her ring back but the pawn-shop lady said it was already late, her ring was gone and could not be

Some of these battles are chosen, while the rest flank from behind. With this in mind, a story of victory must be told, on behalf of my Aunt, Joenell. Her battle took place in April, of 2009, she went to the Suttee Delta hospital, in Antioch California for a doctor’s visit, for fear that something was wrong, during this visit she informed her doctor that she felt a not on her left breast. Soon after, she had a mammogram, and an ultrasound done, revealing three cancerous lumps. As the doctor went into detail, she started to realize the gravity of the situation. It is not uncommon for the evening news to talk about the local, state, or national budget. Controlling finances is an important issue for governments at many levels. Families also must control their finances. Some families create budgets that they stick to carefully, recording all outgoing and incoming money so that they never spend more than they bring in. Other families keep at least a mental count of where their finances stand. But what about young people—people your age?…

Farmington, New Mexico 2003, 11 years old and in love with my broken down racehorse, his name was Gentleman or “Gentleman Hawk” according to his papers. We had gotten Gentleman from a sale barn for a measly 400 dollars, he was in real bad shape but my father and I nursed him back to health. When Gentleman was at full health I would run him across the pasture, back and forth until it was dark or my parents called me for supper, it was a time in my life with few worries and very little stress but this horse just brought me so much joy, it was a relationship that I look back on and cherish. The apostles asked the disciples to choose seven of them amongst themselves to continue the works of the Apostles. Stephen was selected along with six others. Stephen started committing great works and signs for the people and this upset the Jews. Jews began to argue with Stephen, but Stephen had the Holy Spirit on his side so they couldn’t win a talking battle against him. Therefore, the angered Jews went and convinced people to say “We have heard Stephen speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God. Stephen was then brought to the Sanhedrin. He gave his speech to the Jews, but at the end he called the Jews “stiffnecked” people and rightfully accused them of persecuting many prophets. This angered the Sanhedrin and they sentenced him to death. They dragged Stephen out of the city and stoned him. Right before he died, Stephen said “Lord do not hold this sin against them”, he then died. Stephen was very significant because he was considered to be the first martyr.…
