Personal Ethics Statement
Personal ethics is what an individual believes about morality and right and wrong. My ethics are personal beliefs and morals that reflect and define the person I am. My ethical perspective that was identified by the Ethical Lens Inventory was each of the lens (rationality, autonomy, sensibility, equality) equally. As a result of this, I have no blind spot. I have a mature ability to use and adapt the right tools in a given situation. I value autonomy and equality equally. I make ethical choices for myself and others. I believe that all people should be treated with respect, fairness, and justice. My strength is balance among all four lenses because I see the benefits that each can bring to a decision or situation. My weakness is that I run the risk of inaction, seeing everything and deciding nothing. As long as I stay self –aware, I can keep the courage of my own convictions.
Our personal ethics are an important role in our everyday lives. They are equally important in academics as well as in the workplace. In academics and the workplace, it is important to be honest, trustworthy and fair. We do not use disruptive behavior, harassment, stalking, make threats, or discriminate. It is important that we are honest in all parts of our lives, respect others, and act with integrity and equality.
I completely agree with my results in the Work Culture Preferences activity. My results were ethical, well resourced, and teamwork centered. This is exactly how my ideal work culture would be. It is important to me to have fairness, equality, and make a difference in people’s lives. I want a safe work place with the necessary resources to do my work efficiently and I want to work with a team and have supportive colleagues where we cooperate and strive
