Becoming a social worker, counselor, or therapist is a tuff task for any human service professional. Helping people deal with certain situations and helping him or her overcome those problems can require hard work, responsibility to your client, and honesty . To become a human service worker for me is a way of making a difference in others lives and giving them hope to better his or her lives. The purpose of the model is to increase self-esteem in the clients by opening their eyes and ideas to other experiences. The therapy helps to foster clients to include closer agreement between the client's idealized and actual selves, better self-understanding, lower levels of defensiveness, guilt, and insecurity, more positive and comfortable relationships with others and an increased capacity to experience and express feelings at the moment they occur.

The relationship between the clinician and the patient is one-sided. The client has the upper hand in the sessions. The responsibility is on the client rather than the counselor. Self-actualization, a term derived from the human potential movement, is an important concept underlying person-centered therapy. It refers to the tendency of all human beings to move forward, grow and reach their fullest potential. The counselor's role is to help identify self-actualization in the client.

The kinds of problems that can be addressed using the model are when the client has problems identifying their feelings and emotions. This model can also help with identifying experiences, good or bad, that affected them. Expressing emotions can be a major break-through in
