Penelope Peach: The Smart And Ambitious Little Girl
Penelope Peach was a smart and ambitious little girl. Her being ambitious meant she was willing to work hard to get the things she wanted. One summer afternoon, Penelope was out shopping with her mother when she saw the best, most perfect doll she had ever seen in her whole life! It was the brand-new Sadie Walk and Talk doll that even came with it’s own cell phone! Penelope Peach picked up the doll, hugged it tightly, and spun around once while begging her mom to buy it for her. “Mom, this is the best, most special doll I have ever seen; will you please, please buy it for me?”

Her mother replied, “I know you really want it, sweetheart, but I just bought you a brand-new toy last weekend. If you want this doll, you will have to buy it with

“An icecold drink.” “Exactly!” exclaimed Mr. Newor.
“How about lemonade?”
“Lemonade is awesome; everyone likes lemonade on a hot day!” shouted Penelope.
“Yes! Yes!” exclaimed Mr. Newor.
Then June chimed in, saying, “Aah yes, what a fantastic idea.”
Just then Penelope’s face lit up.
“We could sell lemonade; we could have a lemonade stand!”

Within minutes, Penelope and her pixie pals began gathering supplies to build their lemonade stand.
“Let’s see,” said Penelope. “We’ll need a table to put the lemonade on and a chair to sit in, right?”
“Yes,” said Rocky, “but we will also need a sign that says ‘lemonade for sale.’”
“Yes,” said Bella-Grace, “I’ll get started on that sign right away.” After one swift swirl of glitter, Bella-Grace was holding a beautiful, sparkling sign that read, “Lemonade for Sale.”
“Perfect,” said Penelope. “Now we have a sign and a chair, but we still need a table.”
“Got it,” said Lola. She made three quick swirls, and voilà! There was a small pink and purple striped table standing next to Penelope Peach.

They thought they had everything, but something seemed to be missing.
“Hmm,” said Penelope, “we are defi nitely missing

When introducing her new friend Lauren to her room, Baby reflects on her rag doll, “It was a doll that my mother had bought for me when she was pregnant . . . The doll also made me feel sweet inside, too, because it made me feel that at some point, even before I existed, I had been loved” (O’Neill 97-98). This illustrates Baby’s longing for a loving mother figure, which is a reasonable expectation from a 12 year old girl. Loving care is a critical need of any child.…

It all began with shopping. First with my girlfriends over the years, goofing off on trips to the mall trying on gorgeous flowing gowns for fun, and then it was finally time for me to buy one, finally a formal occasion where I got to dress up in a fancy gown with high heels, my Mom took me to the mall. Even though it wasn’t quite prom, it was still a formal dance, a celebration of completing middle school and entering into high school. While I shopped with my Mom I could sense her excitement for me. It was exciting and special for her to see her little girl growing up. We shopped and shopped, I must’ve tried on a hundred dresses until I found the perfect one. It was pink with tiny embroidered flowers all over. I completed my look with strappy silver heels, silver jewelry and a hand bag.…

As a child I had a Barbie or two, or twenty. When the day was rainy and no friends could come over and play I always knew my dear friends Tara and Tonya would be there for me. They were my favorite Barbie. They were twins, only because one Christmas I received the same doll from two different sides of the family. Both with long brown hair like me. In a way I felt like we were triplets. Hey! Every girl can dream.…

To see of what it was made, to discover the dearness, to find the beauty, the desirability that had escaped me, but apparently only me. Adults, older girls, shops, magazines, newspapers, window signs--all the world had agreed that a blue-eyed, yellow-haired, pink-skinned doll was what every girl child treasured. (Morrison 15)…
