The Paparrazzi

The paparazzi is a freelance photographer, especially one who takes candid pictures of celebrities for publication. Paparazzi is a fusion of the Italien words papatacci, meaning gnat and razzi meaning the popping of flashlights. Paparazzi photographers are fueled by large sums of money offered by the tabloid press. No major celebrity can avoid them. Though some say that they are just doing their job, others believe that is is going too far and needs limits.

There was a recent situation where a paparrazzi photographer got killed while trying to get a picture of celebrity pop star, Justin Bieber's white Ferrari. He saw Bieber's car getting pulled over and took some pictures, but as he was going back to his own car, he got struck by a vehical and died. Bieber, though, gave his condolaces to the paparrazzi photographer's family. "While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim," Bieber said in a statement. "Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders and the photographers themselves."

The paparrazzi can recive up to thousands of dollars for candid pictures of celebrities. As celebrities become more popular, the public wants to know what they are doing every single second of the day, even when they aren't on camera. The paparazzi make it their job to find out. Today, paparrazzis tread on private property, take pictures of intimate moments, and even go as far as stalking. They will do anything to get a picture. Paparazzi photographers repeatedly hunt celebrities and their families for a chance to photograph them in candid, unflattering moments.
