Reading and Writing Strategies: In her portfolio, Diana did average on incorporating the reading and writing strategies. The conclusion wasn’t as strong as it should’ve been, but she had good body paragraph structure. The hook doesn’t really grab your attention as it should, and the thesis should be stronger and more brief. For example, the first sentence of the essay, which is commonly referred to as the hook, is too long and could potentially cause the readers to lose interest. Diana also did good using reading and writing strategies in her midterm portfolio. The topic sentences of each body paragraph are strong and mostly explain what each paragraph is going to be about which is very important. Overall, there were both positives and negatives with Diana’s use of Reading and Writing Strategies.…
Robertson’s chapter on Diana in the Dock illustrates how the composer’s personal convictions and attitudes toward Diana Windsor, shape the reader’s interpretation of information regarding her right to privacy as an individual. The conjunction coupled with the contrasting legal jargon “I was in favour of privacy law but opposed monarchy” strongly outlines Robertson own conflict towards Diana’s situation. His use of a personal, persuasive tone coupled with colloquial idiom and military-like jargon in “There is, I’m convinced, a…
After the birth of Prince Harry, Princess Diana lived with the constant fear of being murdered. She regularly warned staff and friends not to be surprised should she suddenly turn up to dead (Botham 2). Princess Diana was never in doubt as to who her killers would be, though in fact there was more than one group in the motive impact. Diana lived constantly in fear of being murdered, and put her thoughts in writing just one year before her death (Charlotte…
Chapter two will discuss the ideology of the BBC prior to the general strike and how this ideology impacted on their reporting of the general strike. It will look at how Sir John Reith…
This note Diana wrote is a very strong piece of evidence for the people who believe that she had been murdered. Within the handwritten note contained a statement reading, “This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous - my husband is planning 'an accident ' in my car, brake failure and serious head injury in order to make the path clear for him to marry Tiggy. Camilla is nothing but a decoy, so we are all being used by the man in every sense of the word.” How much of a coincidence is…

She believed that these emotional stages were present throughout an individual’s experience of dying and believes, it may be suggested, all individuals facing this situation express these emotions because of the deep despair they…
It was as though a pall fell over the crowd in black. A small woman hunched over in a dark corner, quivered as tears streamed down her now puffy cheeks. She wore a doleful expression; today was the day that mother earth would swallow up her beloved son, and claim him as her own again. The weight of her son’s death, Meursault, hung painfully over her shoulders. It seemed as though the pain she was experiencing was interminable.…
The Broadsheet I have chosen is the Daily Telegraph. On Tuesday, a day and a half after the shooting the story was still front page with prominent pictures of one of the soldiers with his family and a smaller but just as important picture of the second soldier who died. There then followed an in depth analysis of what actually happened. Additionally there were quotes from British and Irish politicians north and South of the border. These quotes were analysed particularly Sinn Fein (the political wing of the old IRA) to see how sincere there condolences were. Very importantly the Daily Telegraph then did an in depth look at if the peace process was to be de-stabilised. The most important fact about the reporting was that it was not persuasive or bias. It simply reported the facts and let the reader form their own opinion on the subject rather than convincing us to see the killings in the way the paper did. The shootings could be of significant historical importance that could determine future actions taken. Are the shootings going to be the start of resurgence in…
To What Extent Can Tim Burton’s ‘The Corpse Bride’ Be Seen As A Modern Gothic Story?…
She lived a full life, complete with laughter and sorrow. As we gather today, although we will miss her physical presence in our lives, let’s not just grieve, but also celebrate her life as it was fully lived. As we talk and visit, let’s share our memories, as her Spirit continues to live in all of us.…
The reader gets information about how the paper is run, who runs it, what challenges the paper has to face when it comes to new technology, Internet and how society changes with these developments. The paper relies on people to read it but also people to run it and fill it with news. The editor-in-chief in the novel Kathleen Solson, claimed in 2004 there to be too critical of a time in history to write news stories about celebrities on the beach with fat folds – “we can leave that to the Internet”. There was the war on terror, the rise of Asia and climate change to mention some, that were the important news stories to report. The aims of the paper seemed to be that this newspaper would cover stories with quality and that would make the paper survive the modernising development, especially the Internet threat. “Whatever you want to call it – news, text, content – someone has to report it, someone has to write it, someone has to edit it. And I intend for us to do it better no matter the medium. We are the quality source among international newspapers” (p. 179). This is a part of Kathleen’s answer to a question to if the news industry is going to survive. The paper would want to be so good that getting a website is not necessary, but it proves not to…
