P1: Describe the role internet marketing has within a modern marketing context.
D-travel is a nationwide chain of travel agencies in The Netherlands with headquarters in Hoofddorp. The chain is part of the Cooperative Dirk van den Broek. Recently, D-D also launched travel accommodation; this is a new marketplace for private owners who wish to rend out their homes.
D-travels 1.350 employees throughout the country working in over 170 locations. They also have a call center in Breda.
Product: D-reizen provide service with products like booking vacations, flight tickets, hotels and other things like renting cars, parking service, taxi service, train tickets, travel books, holiday insurance, ski sets and magazines.
Price: For all the products, D-reizen got different prices. But now and then they got special deals. As example; Book now for Turkey and pay €99,- instead of €299,-.
Promotion: D-reizen makes use of different kind of promotions. They promote by big posters hanging by the bus stations, making TV-commercials, advertising in different kind of magazines and promote a lot on the internet.
People: There are more than 1.000 employees at D-reizen travel agency. If you want to work at the agency, you have to have a passion for vacation and be oriented and informal. The employees that are working at the agency they go a lot of responsibility, because D-reizen finds it important that you can continue to develop in your field or grow into leadership.
Processes: If you are looking for an vacation, you can book it by yourself. This you can do it by go surf on the website and follow the instuctions. But if you don't know how it works and you want some advice of one of the employees you can go to the nearest D-reizen and they are willing to help you out to book a vacation.
Physical evidence: As soon as you enter one of the D-reizen travel agency, you see that there's a children play area on one of the corners and right next to it a table with seats on each times. This would be the waiting room, across the room you see a few desks next to each other, each desks has an computer system and book shelves behind it. This is where the employees help the costumers with giving them travel information and booking a reservation; the book shelf is filled with different countries magazines, these they give away when you ask information about a particular country/city. The agency is decorated with different colors and shades, especially the colors blue, yellow and light brown, which dedicated the earth and water as it is a travel agency.
C: How does internet provide opportunities for business-customers dialogue and how does an organization build a relationship with their costumers? On the agency website you see on the corner of the website where u can sign up to make an account, with this account you can see all your travel information. D-reizen also send you an email when they got a new special deal or want to keep you updated.
D: how can the use of internet help businesses to expand to new environments/markets? The use of internet can help a business to expand to new environment by asking the customers/members to fill in a feedback sheet about what they think about the travel agency so that they know what they should change or improve the business.
E: Segmenting and targeting online-differences with traditional targeting. If you want to make an online booking, you have to sign up first and fill in all your personal information to make an account. When you finished signing up, you get an email with your username and password, this you will need to log in when you make a booking or want to see your travel information. When you are sure of booking the vacation you can choose how you want to pay it; PayPal, visa, credit card or IDEAL. After paying the booking you will get an email to confirm what you booked that you will print out as an evidence to the ticket.
