Orthopedic Medical Assistant

The medical specialities I feel the medical assistant has most opportunity to participate interact most witht the provider... as in additional testing to help with a diagnosis is working at orthopedic office. Working in an orthopedic office you can see many deformities of bones or muscle in patients such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, bowed legs, joint pain, osteoporosis and spinal fractures etc. When researching little more about what duties the orthopedic medical assistant does it is a combination of patient interaction,treatment and clinical procedures. Medical assistant have to complete the patient's history, taking vital signs, prepare lab sample for testing, preparing a patient for X-rays and explain the procedure. Accroding Maddox (2015) it stated that "to help a patient treatment to get a better diagnose condition is to perform a range of motion
If the patient is elderly, it is better to assist them in a comfortable position and communication is best to feel at ease."(p.1) Treatments as a medical assistant perform inculding applying bone splints, changing bandage and exercising the patients's injured areas. In addtion, the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics states "under supervision of the orthopedic doctor, a medical assistant administers medication, authorizes refills and assists in outpatient surgical procedures as directed." In my opioion, medical assistant would interact alot with the patient in a orthopedic office because assisting a patient to the exam room and prepare them for examination. You will need to assist them to a wheelchair and stretchers to transfer them to exam tables, if they have any special needs. The medical assistant would need to have their certification to be able to do an x-ray on the
