What I Did/What I Learn/ What I Want To Learn

This seminar, we the 4th year join forces to make this event memorable and successful with our little effort in doing tasks that were assigned.

I was in charge on the preparation of the program that was given to our guest speakers and groupmates. I also help in decoration at the event center and contribute some ideas in the certificates that will be distributed top us. I prepared a closing prayer and give some side dishes of our lunch. I also listen well what the speaker is discussing to help us in our mision as a Christian Student. In our lesson plan that presentedthrough Powerpoint. I encoded and add some pictures to it to get the attentions of the listener. Some of the girls prepared an intermission. After this event, I help them in restoration by arranging the chairs, table cloths and gathering the dirt.

Being a teacher is a serious task, even though I didn’t experienced it i know it is difficult. One word you say can affect the student, we should be careful of our words. The instrument of the teachers are not piano and guitar but the voice, their heart and perseverance.

As a student of St. Peter’s Academy a Catholic Institution, we are called to spread the good news of the Lord. What we learn/know we share them to the children or others. We, a cathecist is a ministry, its a service without pay. Once we are a cathecist, we’re a cathecist forever. Every Christian is a cathecist. “Are you a Christian?” therefor you are a cathecist.

We are FREE from Failure of Christians duties, Refusal to care for others, Earthly comforts or Exclusive relationships and Egoistic tendencies or Excuses. We should not be STUCK from Self-centeredness, Temptation, Unwillingness to work or Unfit, Cultural stubborness or Complacemency and

Our last observation this semester was with Rachel Pollard at Hartwood Elementary School. This school includes grades K-5. Mrs. Pollard is in a very unique situation, because she sees each of her classes for forty minutes twice a week. Since she has twice as much time with her students as compared to most other music teachers, her students are able to advance quickly with their musical skills. This benefit was very obvious through my observations. Mrs. Pollard’s lessons were well thought-out and she had clear objectives in mind for each activity. Everything she did served a purpose, including singing a song to move the students into a new seating arrangement and her “point checks” at the beginning of class.…

A teacher are a role model for the community. The teaching profession has grown into a vast array of responsibilities, from meeting the students physiological needs to creating dynamic lessons for attainment of knowledge with high stakes testing. With the subtraction of the politics within the educational system, teaching is one of the fundamentals within human existence and future preservation. Effective and highly effective teaching encompasses the developmental understanding of the student brain. When an educator can understand how the brain is going to make connections to prior knowledge, the more meaningful a lesson will be. Teachers create lessons from state standards to ensure the students are exposed to material for an educational foundation from each grade level to build on. “The Characteristics…

Because of the irregular hours and unsteady work, many musicians choose not to perform. Some teach at music schools or conservatories. Others teach in colleges or secondary or elementary schools. These musician-teachers provide instruction in music appreciation, music theory, and voice or give lessons on individual instruments.…

However, one of the most important contributions to a class is encouragement and being positive, and I would do my best to encourage each of the pupil’s into trying out different instruments (under the teachers directions) so that they were building up their self-esteem and confidence; it’s an opportunity to learn a new skill.…

Teachers are an essential elements of any society, and although their actions and intention are often positive there are nevertheless scenarios in which they fail at their task. Within ‘Maestro’, Peter Goldsworthy portrays how a teacher can have both positive and negative effects on their pupil, how they can succeed in one element and wane in another. In some respects, Paul Crabbe’s teacher, Eduard Keller, has a devastating effect on his pupil’s life. Due to the maestri’s terrible and tragic past he forces Paul to concentrate on technique and because of his almost fatherly expectations of Paul judges him critically. Although in this case, he can be viewed as the ‘worst possible teacher’ it is also the arrogance of Paul, himself, that culminates in his failures to become a concert pianist. Keller attempts to teach Paul about life where other teachers may simply have swelled Paul’s already arrogant personality and failed to diminish his selfish and egotism: two factors which lead Paul down a patch to his own personalised and ‘dissatisfied’ life.…

Teaching is sacrificial and it is a calling for those who have a servant’s heart. I am frequently reminded of a student in my Beginning Band class two decades ago. His name was Carlton and he was a special needs student in sixth grade. Carlton desperately wanted to learn to play the Baritone horn well enough that he could perform on the Spring Band Concert but band rehearsals were short and he needed more help. So, he and I agreed that he would skip recess and I would skip lunch a few times each week to practice together. Carlton played on that concert and him doing so was just as rewarding to me as it was to him.…

Planning: As a teaching assistant, I assist the teacher in planning for lessons by first having an informal discussion with the teacher in order to determine what the learning objectives are for the upcoming topics, so both I and the teacher know what the learning outcomes are and what is expected of the children. If I sometimes miss work the teacher sometimes emails me with a breakdown of lesson plans for the week so I can prepare for it and so I know what has been covered in the days I was absent. During this discussion I am able to put forth my ideas on how best I think the topic should be delivered and what groups of children I should sit next to provide additional support as they may struggle the most. Discussing and planning the activities beforehand gives me an idea of what needs to be done before the lesson and during the lesson. By doing this it helps me be in control of my group as I know what needs to be done.…

For ancient time, teachers have played an important role in society. Behind every successful person, there is a teacher. Nowadays, both parents are too busy earning money because of the high living expenses, so the teacher is expected to build a strong moral character and provide emotional support for the students. To achieve this, by the definition of John Lembo who is the author of “Why Teachers Fail,” has four qualities: (1) “he can engage students in an open and trusting relationship by his capacity to listen and accept; (2) he is skilled in the use of different diagnostic, planning, facilitative and evaluative procedure and is knowledgeable about their limitations; (3) he is experimental in his general attitude toward identifying and providing appropriate learning conditions; and (4) he can look at his own beliefs, feeling and behavior openly and can find ways to make them more constructive to himself and others.”(Lembo) Dewey Finn is a substitute teacher after he gets fired from his own band in School of Rock. At the beginning, he accepts the job by pretending to be his best friend Ned Schneebly who is supposed to be the substitute teacher of the prestigious prep school, Horace Green. Finn eventually turns the outstanding students from Horace Green to a group of rockers. The process is adventurous, meaningful and touching. However, He meets the four qualities of a competent teacher which are definite by Lembo. He promises a trustful relationship with his students; he finds out what his students’ talent and does not waste it; he brings rock to the class and teaches his students what they cannot find in a proper pre-school; and he is awareness of his own mistake.…

Children often compare their teachers to their parents. Teachers prepare children academically, and whether they like it or not, have an influence in the lives of their students. What a teacher says to a student can have the same effect as to what a parent says to their child. It is the difference between a student trying their best due to an encouraging teacher, and a student giving up because the teacher demeaned them publicly. Teachers must be aware of how they speak to their students as for what they say can truly effect their lives.…
