THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
Introduction
The concept of K to 12 advocates the standardization of educational system of the Philippines. This system means Kindergarten and the 12 years of elementary and secondary education. Kindergarten refers to the 5-year old cohort that takes a standardized kinder curriculum and Elementary education refers to primary schooling that involves six or seven years of education. Secondary education refers to high school (Villafania, 2008). K–12 is a designation for the sum of primary and secondary education. It is used in the United States, Canada, Philippines and Australia. The expression is a shortening of Kindergarten (K) for 4–6-year-olds through twelfth grade (12) for 18–19-year-olds, the first and last grades of free education these countries. K to 12 prescribes an enhanced basic education program that covers one year of kindergarten education, six years of elementary education, and six years of secondary education consisting of four years of Junior High School and two years Senior High School. K-to-12 graduates will be equipped with middle-level skills, readiness for higher education, and readiness for livelihood, may it be employment or entrepreneurship. . CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE This chapter discusses the review of related literature and conceptual framework found to be relevant in the conduct of the present study.
A. Related Literature and Studies
The following body of knowledge is considered in defining the problem.
Curriculum
Curriculum studies (CS) is a concentration within curriculum and instruction concerned with understanding curricula as an active force of human educational experience. Curriculum Studies emerged as a distinctive field in the late 1960s and early 1970s from educationists focused on curriculum development. The shift from developing and evaluating curriculum to understanding curriculum is known as the "Reconceptualization" of the curriculum field. A branch of curriculum studies that investigates how society transmits culture from generation to generation has been tagged with the term “Hidden curriculum” even though much of what is studied is hiding in plain sight. For instance, one of the 19th Century founders of the discipline of Sociology, Émile Durkheim, observed that that more is taught and learned in schools than specified in the established curriculum of textbooks and teacher manuals.

Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the research design, research locale, respondents, instruments, general procedure and statistical treatment of the study.

Research Design

The diagram (Fig. 2) described the method employed in the study. This study utilized the bivariate correlation method in which relationship between two variables will be measured. The correlation measured the strength of the relationship between two variables (Nachmias & Nachmias, 2000). The results of the study would be utilizing the impact of the implementation of K to 12 curriculum and their teaching performances to improve and enhance its teaching skills. In this study, the teacher measured the teaching skills in terms of techniques, methods, and strategies used in teaching to establish the bases for recommending of these impact in K to 12 curriculum for the teachers of Dadiangas North High School. The research design also described the procedure in the gathering of data, the different statistical analyses employed, and the steps that will be followed in the treatment of the data.

Research Locale

The study will be conducted at Dadiangas North High School which is a high school public school. This school is at present, is one of the high schools in General Santos City that operates in accordance with K to 12 implementations.
