1) The purpose of occupational health psychology is to create an environment in which the workers’ needs, such as safety and health are sought after (E.Tetrick, 2017). Stress hardly occurs within isolation and usually has a ripple effect on all workers in the same environment, meaning that if one worker is experiencing depression then it will have a negative impact on co-workers as well. In the current globalized working environment, human capital is the main function of any organization and plays a pivotal role in the business, which in relation to this particular case study, focuses on Call Centre and IT (P Nagesh, 2008) . Identified companies such as Microsoft, Mind Tree and Tata Consultancy offer organizational support to their staff. Microsoft provides their employees with free broadband communication and the option of their employees to job share (J, 2012). The free broadband communication enables faster internet access for their workers which could reduce their business operational stress and improves the quality of the work and could also lead to the decrease of anxiety (P Nagesh, 2008). Also, the option of the workers to job-share gives them the opportunity to share heavy work-loads which makes it less stressful and takes pressure off one worker (Bonnie Hagemann, …show more content…
Also a clinic for the staff, mentoring for work-life balance and a year of leave for out of every six women to focus on their families (J, 2012). The child care-centre helps reduce the stress of having to search for places for the children to go whilst the parents are at work, it also makes things easier in the sense that the children are not far away from the parents which takes away stress of travel time identified above. The company also makes mentoring and a gym available to the staff, this boosts staff morale and takes away the monotonous and job repetition within the workplace, this also makes the working environment which was identified as a stressor, more positive (P Nagesh, 2008). The year of leave offered to the women also takes the away the stress of insufficient time off and provides a better family-work life balance (Kode Ruyter, 2001).

Tata Consultancy plans fitness events and music societies as well as community service for their employees (J, 2012). This will allow workers to become physically healthier, which will improve productivity and also reduce absenteeism in the workplace (P Nagesh, 2008).

    The first tool is the Daily Hassles Scale. This tool is designed to measure the daily hassles of employees such as customer service representatives and anyone working in a high stressed job. In this particular case, this tool identifies daily hassles and the rate of burnout that call center employees undergo (Visser, 2009). The tool evaluates factors such as work overload, pressure, demands from management, repetitive nature of the work, and lack of supervisor and co-worker support (Visser, 2009). The Daily Hassles Scale also measures daily hassles on a personal level (Visser, 2009).
