Currently I am seeking licensure in professional counseling in North Carolina. North Carolina has strenuous process for completion of licensure requirements, there are several components that must be completed prior to submission of application for licensure. The first component includes the completion of the educational requirements. The educational requirements differ based on enrolment date. The educational requirements are:

If an individual seeking licensure embarked on the pursuit of licensure after June 30, 2009 the applicant will need 60 semester hours.
The required semester hours must include 9 areas of study : Orientation to the Counseling Profession, Counseling Theories &Techniques, Research, Appraisal, Career, Vocational, Lifestyle Development, Human Growth and Development, Social and Cultural Foundations, Practicum/Internship and Group Work
Examination Requirements
Upon completion of the educational requirements an individual seeking LPC licensure must partake in two separate examinations the first examination must be one of the following:
National Counselor Exam (NCE) – provided by the National Board for Certified Counselors
National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE) – provided by the National Board for Certified Counselors
Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Exam (CRC) – provided by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification
The second exam is less strenuous it cover the law and ethical codes that govern Licensed Professional Counselors. The Jurisprudence exam, is a no fail exam that must accompany the applicant’s application for
