Nike Advertisement

English 1101

This Nike advertisement focuses on an obese, out of shape young man. It insinuates that greatness can be achieved regardless of where your current baseline resides. For this young man, it appears that he is at the infancy stages of a quest for physical fitness. The setting appears to be rural and as he is jogging on a long stretch of desolate road. It is somewhat symbolic of his quest, desolate that is. In order for him to achieve his end goal he will have to achieve it alone.
Part of the triumph is reaching his goal autonomously, without assistance or encouragement from anyone. If he is going to be successful in his quest it will need to come from within. He will not be surrounded by a sea full of supporters and fans in a sophisticated area like other athletes. His intestinal fortitude will be challenged but he has the look of grit and determination to conquer.

From a viewers perspective the advertisement clearly catches the eye promoting Nike.
After further analysis, it’s akin to a motivational poster you would see in a corporate setting and this is appears to be the strategy of the advertisement creator. Unlike most advertisements this particular one is not shouting its brand. It is bringing the attention to how their brand will help the consumer. This advertisement is plain and simple, not flashy, and detailed like most ads seen in magazines, but it still gets the point across. It will help the consumer reach their dreams, goals, and desires. The advertisement fosters the idea that you can achieve anything and everything is within your grasp if you have the desire and of course Nike on your side. This advertisement in particular takes what one would consider a heightened example of a stretch goal and makes it appear achievable. Much like a Rocky movie the creator is setting the stage for a feel good story and an even

Nike has always been known for its inspirational and amazing advertising campaigns. One of my personal favorite Nike ads was the Nike Ripple ad. Created on April 5, 2015, by Wieden+Kennedy ad agency, this ad is meant to entertain and inspire people into following your dreams and to buy some Nike golf gear. This ad captures the powerful spirit of never giving up and how looking up to your role models can motivate you to achieve your dreams.…

When people skim through a magazine, their eyes usually only pass over the advertisements for a few seconds, increasing the need for companies to grab the viewer's attention quickly and effectively. For this reason, businesses use images in order to better reach their customers. In the ad for Nike, (a manufacturer of athletic clothing) a picture of record-breaking golfer Tiger Woods and one of his quotes is combined in an effort to convey their message more effectively: buy stuff from Nike.…

An ad is a form of advertisement that tends to draw people’s attention. Ads are effective because they use imagery and word choices that appeal to the eyes of many. Also because they give you all the information you need, without overwhelming you with a lot of information. People are many times persuaded by a specific ad to buy their product. When an ad is being made, a specific audience is being targeted. My ad analysis focuses on three vintage ads pinpointing women. In all three of my ads, the target audience is women and how women can become happier with their life. These ad creators make the women in the ads appear to be happier and better off with their product which is the factor that intrigues all women to these products.…

Another way this anti-Nike ad was able to get consumers to trust them was through the use of pathos. The emotion in this ad is depressing due to its gray color and the young girl running with no shoes on her feet holding her baby. It makes you stop to read the ad about this young girl holding her baby wrapped in a blanket with a blank stare on her face. This causes you think how the people making the Nike products are being treated. This young girl is portrayed as over worked and exhausted, her feet are swollen, bruised and, it looks as if she is running from someone. She is standing on…

An advertisement depicting a person working out, with words of inspiration written over him. “Take charge. Write your own story.” it reads, but there is an underlying meaning beneath this cloak of motivation. This ad is inspiring, but also depicting what society believes masculinity is. Nike is emphasizing the importance of working out and being one’s own person in a way to define masculinity. The advertisement displays stereotypes of masculinity through the man, the weights, and displays a theme of bravery, a characteristic often associated with masculinity.…
