District Timed Writing "I don't want easy, just possible," says Bethany Hamilton who is known for surviving a shark attack at 13 where she lost her left arm and overcame the injury to return to surfing. Bethany is one of those people that move on from negative things in life, that's why I think she should be on a U.S. postage stamp. Also, she's a huge inspiration to girls, surfers, and disabled people. Hamilton is a hero because of her hope and faith to go back to surfing with only one arm. In addition, she is a wonderful role model because of her motivation not to quit and positive attitude. Truly, what I love the most about her is how many people are inspired by her every day. To begin, Bethany Hamilton is the inspiration of many, but, who does she inspire the most? I think that Hamilton really inspires young females in different ways. Bethany really sends out a message that girls can be something, that they can fulfill their dreams. Bethany once talked to a reporter and told him that you need to have a positive mental attitude to achieve your goals. On the other hand, Hamilton is like a goddess to young surfers all over the world. In 2009, she placed second in ASP World Junior Championship years after the shark attack. There have been many disabled athletes out there, however, Bethany Hamilton was a teenage, one-armed, surfer who didn't give up. As we all know, Bethany was left with only one arm after her accident, but that didn't stop her from continuing to follow her dreams, that's why she is such an inspiration to disabled people. Although she was missing her left arm she continued to surf and she was phenomenal at it. Hamilton believed and stayed strong because she knew she could recover. Bethany Hamilton is heroic in so many ways. On the other hand, I asked myself why I think Bethany Hamilton is a hero, then I starting thinking of the beautiful things she's done in life before and after her accident. Bethany gave hope to many, including me;

    I watched my cousin Robb jump into the pool and race through the water. I was thrilled to be in Baltimore experiencing Robb, who was born with Autism and Down Syndrome, swim at the Maryland State Special Olympics. My cousin Astri and I were Robb’s biggest cheerleaders, cheering him on as he swam. I was hoping I would witness his victory. There was one woman who I had my eye on because we had met her in the locker room before the race. Something I will never forget was holding the door for her. She had the same enthusiasm and appreciation for life as Robb. It was impossible to predict that the chain of events following would occur. After the race had begun, she collapsed and died in the water. As I watched the medics pull her out of the pool,…

    I think Ben Underwood and the video inspired me alot. The fact that he is blind and doesn't believe it is amazing. He has a great mind set and tells himself he is not blind and nothing is wrong with him is incredible. I think if a blind teenager can teach himself to see then anyone can do anything. They just have to have the right mindset. Ben Underwood doesn’t let anyone tell im he is blind. Ben’s story inspires me to do more things that people tell me I can’t do and it shows me that I can do things better than what I or others think. It makes me feel that I can succeed at anything and become better at anything. It shows me that I should not listen to others when they try to bring me down and say I can’t do something.…
