New Type of Gaming Consoles
Hands-free games consoles

Hands-free gaming consoles are consoles that can be controlled without a controller. To control the consoles, you can use your full body and voice to command. This way, you don’t always have to sit down to play the game and this could be beneficial to your body as you are not constantly sitting down all the time like with a controller. Also, you will feel much more freedom by standing up and moving around, rather than just sitting down.

An example of a hands-free gaming console is Xbox 360 Kinect.

Most hands-free gaming console works by receiving the heat you are emitting from your body and it also sense your body movement. Then it copies your movement onto the TV. This way is called motion sensor.

But Xbox 360 Kinect and others hands-free gaming consoles can also sense your movement by skeletal tracker. They create a digital skeleton of you based on depth data. So whenever you move, they will capture it and puts you in the game.

Another way for the console to work is by voice recognition. There are four microphones that are placed crucially within the sensor, so it recognises your voice and separate your voice from the background noises or other noises.

And lastly, it can also work by facial recognition. It has a camera so it can take a photo of you and collects physical data of you that is stored in your profile in the console. The console will remember who you are and it will know it is
