National Honor Society Speeches
Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to be apart of the National Honors Society. Throughout my high school career I have committed my time and efforts to creating a better community around me as many of my friends and family have seen. I have exemplified service, leadership, and character through my honesty, confidence, and dedication to others.
I am often described as an honest person, willing to speak the truth, even when it may be challenging or unpopular. I believe that as a leader it is important to be truthful with people in order to show you care about their well-being and communicate properly. Throughout my years of competitive swimming, my friends have come to me in search of feedback on technique because they know I will give them constructive criticism. This shows how much I care about them; not only do I want to succeed, I want them to succeed as well. Giving praise is easy, but critiquing someone is what will help him or her to transform into a better swimmer.

Due to my willingness to confront injustice and take action, others describe me as a confident leader. For the past two years I have seen the emotional struggle that hundreds of families have faced through my work at the Ronald McDonald House. Because of this, I have dedicated my time to preparing and serving them dinner on a monthly basis. While working at the House, my peers noticed my willingness to do any task that needed to be done because I was confident in my ability to learn something new, no matter how difficult it may be. Because of this, I was chosen to be the co-leader of the project. It is easy to say that my confidence has given me the ability to support the causes I believe in through both service and

Good evening, Parents, teachers, honored guests, and fellow classmate. As Benjamin desereli said, change is inventible and change will always will come. In our case we all knew that graduation was coming and that we are leaving .all of us as students should know that change is always going to come we just have to deal with it. Instead of becoming sad that we are leaving, we should remember all the fond memories we are going to have and keep with us. Just because we are leaving market lane physically does not mean we are going to leave market lane mentally or emotionally. Market lane will be in our hearts forever. Market lane taught us many things how to deal with hardships, deal with stress and to have a great time.…

Tonight is bitter sweet for me…bitter because my basketball career is coming to end and it really is hard to say goodbye to something you truly depended on through tough times and good times. Basketball has always been for them as well as my teammates and my coaches…its just hard to say goodbye. The sweet part is that this season isn’t over yet! I would like to thank a few people tonight. First off, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity to play basketball and allowing me to play with a torn P.C.L. in my left leg because most people would have to go through surgery or be enable to do sports in general. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for God giving me another chance to play this sport without any surgery. Secondly I would like to thank my dad for getting me into basketball. After a long day at work, you still managed to get me to practices and games. Not only that, I appreciate spending all of your summer weekends for majority of my life traveling everywhere for hundreds of tournaments. I know we both have had our differences and we both don’t always see eye to eye especially when you try to be my coach but you have always believed in me when I felt like nobody did and for that I’m more than thankful. But as I’ve grown, I’ve realized you just wanted to see me succeed and be the best that I can be. A huge, special thank you will definitely be for our coaches. Coach Clayton aka Teacon, you are a second father figure in my life and I’m so blessed that I have gotten the chance to be coached by you since the 4th grade on the court and off. You always believed in us more than anyone else, and you have shown more dedication than anyone I know when it comes around to coaching on the basketball court. Coach Eddie, I don’t know where we would all be if we didn’t have you to condition us. Coach Walker, thank you for always taking stats with my dad and having gum on you during the games! Also thank you to the fans (aka parents) that come out and…

Hello, everyone! I’d like to thank everybody again for coming out today to help send us off into our futures. The sad truth is, is that this is probably the last time I’ll get to talk to my entire class at once so I’m gonna try and make it good. We’ve come a long way from nap time and chasing each other around the playground well…maybe something’s never change. Our class has had some awkward moments, from learning about the “bull head” in Mrs. Currnutt’s class, to Morrison hitting on Mrs. Harber. But, we’ve also had some fun times too. We had a pretty amazing fishing trip at the end of our junior year, and also we made a great Senior Harlem Shake! In the past four years I have become friends with people I never expected to be friends with, or even the past two years, for that matter. And I think our whole class can relate to that.…

These wonderful graduates are more than my classmates; they are my family. I always think about our past, all the good times and those thankfully few bad ones; the laughter and tears we shared over the past 10 years. I began with some of you in kindergarten, others joined along the way. We all have grown up together and have changed each other for the better. We have stuck together, even though the rough times I am so proud of every single one of them and I love them all dearly. Each laughter-filled moment and friendship made has taught us what we need to move on, and has strengthened us as individuals I'm so blessed to have had them in my life and I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to have gone to such a wonderful school full of amazing people.…

Who am I? What will people think of me? These are two important questions that will effect my future. The chapter of my highschool life is coming to an end and soon I will begin a whole new one. Being students at St. Thomas Academy, much is given to us. Mr. Ziebarth calling us “pansy-ass prima donnas” may actually be true, but after this year, the “country club” is over. I’ll be off by myself, and my best assets are the qualities and virtues that I have learned and experienced over the past 18 years. Each one of my family members has taught me a certain aspect that will help me in college and throughout my life.…

Welcome parents, family, friends, and faculty. We are here to celebrate the accomplishments and the graduation of the Class of 2012. And I would like to give a special welcome to my classmates; well, we are finally here. As you sit here and inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I am sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: “Will I find my place in the world?” If you are lucky. “Did I really wear this?” Yeah you did. “And who is that stunning young lady addressing us, and how long do I have the privilege of listening to her?” Hey, Ashley Rinehart here, and hopefully not for too long. I realize that your unflattering robes are hiding your expensive dresses and ties, and are probably riding up making you uncomfortable. And not to mention all that clothing is making you sweat in this stuffy gym, but do not worry, my sarcasm is probably making your parents just as sweaty and uncomfortable as you already are.…

On different dates in 1992 we were born none of us new we would be sitting here with the people we are today, neither did our parents, God has already made a plan for us, making our paths cross at different points, almost like we were all destined to be sitting here. Making memories and friendships in school as our walls and then tearing down those walls that have taken so long to build when we have to leave our home, school. The following is an excerpt from a speech President Lincoln gave "No one, not in my situation, can appreciate my feelings of sadness at this parting. To this place, and the kindness of these people, I owe everything. Here I have lived a quarter of a century, and have passed from young to an old man. Here my children have been born and one is buried. I now leave, not knowing when or whether ever I may return, with a task before me greater than that which rested upon Washington. Without the assistance of the Divine being whoever attended him, I cannot succeed. With that assistance, I cannot fail. Trusting in Him who can go with me, and remain with you, and be everywhere for good, let us confidently hope that all will be bell. To His care commending you, as I hope in your prayers you will commend me, I bid you an affectionate farewell." This speech is one of the most perfect examples of what it is like to be leaving somewhere where all your memories friendships and goals have been made. School, where we have made our futures blossom and open up into more opportunities and privileges is the place we are leaving where we made our first best friends the place where all our memories have been shared and made, its difficult but we do move on. I think of these school walls as a giant photo album each of us filling a page with pictures and drawings of the way we were ten years ago as kindergartens learning to cut and glue, write our names and draw all the way up to our older years as grade eights clanning in…

It is unbelievable that this year is my last year in high school. As I look back at the past three years, there were several poignant moments when I was struggling with my classes and would have given up trying to achieve my goals. But as an diligent student, I chose to endure those moments, and that is why the faculty council should choose me as a member of the National Honor Society. As an international student, I have experienced great cultural diversity and I also have become a more independent and responsible individual through my special circumstances. Furthermore, I have never been afraid of being challenged in studying difficult subject areas, and I study ceaselessly to overcome any obstacles.…
