Senior Speech
Ashley Rinehart
Senior Speech Final Draft
Mrs. Hartman
March 16, 2012
Cop Out Welcome parents, family, friends, and faculty. We are here to celebrate the accomplishments and the graduation of the Class of 2012. And I would like to give a special welcome to my classmates; well, we are finally here. As you sit here and inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I am sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: “Will I find my place in the world?” If you are lucky. “Did I really wear this?” Yeah you did. “And who is that stunning young lady addressing us, and how long do I have the privilege of listening to her?” Hey, Ashley Rinehart here, and hopefully not for too long. I realize that your unflattering robes are hiding your expensive dresses and ties, and are probably riding up making you uncomfortable. And not to mention all that clothing is making you sweat in this stuffy gym, but do not worry, my sarcasm is probably making your parents just as sweaty and uncomfortable as you already are. But I am not here to talking about sweaty undergarments. For four years, we have known this day would come and whether are teachers, parents, or ourselves are prepared for it, here it is. We are about to take that giant leap in just a few minutes and after that, it is time to make our own choices. Our biggest decisions will no longer entail which girl to ask to prom, or to take the easy A class or the one with all your friends. Now we will be faced with what job we want to do for the next thirty years, or how we are going to pay our own bills, and this is scary. But life gives us these challenges to make us stronger and build our character, and we must always remember to be thankful for the opportunities we are given, and to realize we can change, and control our own lives. I know some of you are already sitting there whining about how hot it is or how long this is taking. Some of you may have pouted about how we do not get our

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

One thing people have always told me is that I remind them of the person Randall Cobb from the book game changers. He has one of the most creative and unique personalities. He is passionate for the game of basketball by working hard on his time. Randall is also talented in the subjects math and science by pushing himself to make good grades. He also thrives to help people even if it's with school work, personal problems, or on the basketball court. All in all he was almost exact the same person as I am he likes basketball, he helps others, and he does well in school.…

It's my senior year i'm just ready to get out of this place I don't care what happens I got this bad view on things. When they tell me I need to do something I think to myself who cares It won't be long and I can work and make money. I would love to be working right now and not replying on this I just don't understand most of the stuff they have us do in school about 85% I would say in the line of work i'm going in i'll never use it but I may be wrong so I try to just keep to myself and push through.…

I’ve grown up with all of you. We’ve laughed and cried together. Though, as I leave, as we all leave, I think about how we’re not going to be all in this together anymore. As the end of our time together grows closer, I want to look towards the future. Yes we’re graduating, but just as Carol Burnett says, ‘We don’t stop going to school when we graduate’. We may be leaving, but we’ll never stop learning. Each new day will be a new adventure. We’ll make new friends and gain new experiences. Yes, I know this all sounds incredibly cliché, but that’s the point isn’t it? School if anything, was a love / hate relationship. We had our ups and downs, and just like school, life is going to be the same. So I encourage you to look back on your own schooling lives; take your mistakes and learn from them.…

Senioritis: a common illness that is said to strike high schools across the nation and stand as an excuse for plummeting grades from the senior class. It is believed that seniors become incredibly antsy their last year of high school and are looking into the future for a solution to their bored life. Seniors also begin to question whether the classes they are taking are meaningful or not, while sloughing off the tension that comes with high school because they have been there four years and know the ropes. Not all seniors are sucked into this mindset, and many continue to further their academic success throughout their senior year. “Senioritis” brings up all of these points, but does not effectively support the points made.…

Tonight is bitter sweet for me…bitter because my basketball career is coming to end and it really is hard to say goodbye to something you truly depended on through tough times and good times. Basketball has always been for them as well as my teammates and my coaches…its just hard to say goodbye. The sweet part is that this season isn’t over yet! I would like to thank a few people tonight. First off, I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity to play basketball and allowing me to play with a torn P.C.L. in my left leg because most people would have to go through surgery or be enable to do sports in general. Words can’t describe how thankful I am for God giving me another chance to play this sport without any surgery. Secondly I would like to thank my dad for getting me into basketball. After a long day at work, you still managed to get me to practices and games. Not only that, I appreciate spending all of your summer weekends for majority of my life traveling everywhere for hundreds of tournaments. I know we both have had our differences and we both don’t always see eye to eye especially when you try to be my coach but you have always believed in me when I felt like nobody did and for that I’m more than thankful. But as I’ve grown, I’ve realized you just wanted to see me succeed and be the best that I can be. A huge, special thank you will definitely be for our coaches. Coach Clayton aka Teacon, you are a second father figure in my life and I’m so blessed that I have gotten the chance to be coached by you since the 4th grade on the court and off. You always believed in us more than anyone else, and you have shown more dedication than anyone I know when it comes around to coaching on the basketball court. Coach Eddie, I don’t know where we would all be if we didn’t have you to condition us. Coach Walker, thank you for always taking stats with my dad and having gum on you during the games! Also thank you to the fans (aka parents) that come out and…

In the teacher's Back-to-School Night speech, three instances, I feel, that demonstrate sensitivity to the parents are the teacher providing a written disclosure document on what to expect in his/her classroom, providing instructions on how to access the school's Web site, and by having translators available during the speech.…

Good Afternoon, thank you for coming to our 8th grade promotion. 9 years ago I walked onto this campus for the first time hand in hand with my mom. Being only 5 years old, I had no clue regarding what would happen in the years to come. All I knew was in that moment, I was utterly terrified. Looking back on it now though, I had nothing to worry about.…

This upcoming year will be the best and worst time s of your high school experience. There will be times when you can’t wait to get to school to show off your new outfit or to attend homecoming week. There will also be times where school is just not where you want to be today and your body will go but your mind stays at home. These times will come and these times will go but the one thing you must remember is not to forget why you come to school. Do not forget why you are attending high school. Don’t forget about the test on…

we are stronger, independent adolescents ready to start a new chapter. These last three years can be compared to something I love to do outside of school. Many people play sports in school, and I’m one of them. The sport in which compares to my Middle School experience is no other than Swimming. From the first time I was walking through the crowded hallways to now leaving out the front door I think of all I have accomplished throughout my years.…

Yes, you've been pampered, cosseted, doted upon, helmeted, bubble-wrapped. Yes, capable adults with other things to do have held you, kissed you, fed you, wiped your mouth, wiped your bottom, trained you, taught you, tutored you, coached you, listened to you, counseled you, encouraged you, consoled you and encouraged you again. You've been nudged, cajoled, wheedled and implored. You've been feted and fawned over and called sweetie pie. Yes, you have. And, certainly, we've been to your games, your plays, your recitals, your science fairs. Absolutely, smiles ignite when you walk into a room, and hundreds gasp with delight at your every tweet. Ferris Bueller and icon of all that is high school once wrote, "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Though some of us will testify that these years have gone by much too slowly, most will admit that it has gone faster than most expected. Kindergarten was a breeze. We learned the ABCs, made friends and drew a whole lot of pictures. Then we went into elementary. We saw new students join our classes throughout these long but short elementary years. Teachers could see boys and girls running away from each other screaming, "We, you got cooties!" Life was a breeze all the way through to middle school.…
