Senior Speech
Well, this is it, the day all of us has been waiting for has finally arrived. It seems like only yesterday we were picking our noses and flicking them at innocent by standards or yelling childish phrases like "Liar liar pants on fire!" or wait, that was yesterday. Nevermind.

Anyways.

The first day of kindergarten, we clung to our parents afraid of the new experiences that awaited us. We looked around at all of the other faces not sure what to think. Fear and doubt crippled us. Little did we know that this day was the beginning of a journey stock full of obstacles and rewards.

Ferris Bueller and icon of all that is high school once wrote, "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Though some of us will testify that these years have gone by much too slowly, most will admit that it has gone faster than most expected. Kindergarten was a breeze. We learned the ABCs, made friends and drew a whole lot of pictures. Then we went into elementary. We saw new students join our classes throughout these long but short elementary years. Teachers could see boys and girls running away from each other screaming, "We, you got cooties!" Life was a breeze all the way through to middle school.

We came into middle school with no idea what to be prepared for. None the less, we made it. We were the youngest. Sixth grade was the beginning of our time at Farragut Middle School. We saw students join our classes and some leave throughout middle school. We became involved in sports, the opposite sex, and looking the best that we could. Finally eighth grade reached us. We graduated from eighth grade and enjoyed our summer thinking about becoming a freshman in high school. When September rolled around, butterflies hit.

Once again we were the youngest, but it wasn't so bad. We made new friends and lost old friends. We challenged ourselves with difficult classes and took easy classes.

Throughout high school we looked forward to this day. The day that our journey would end. We have overcome all the obstacles and received all the rewards for doing our best.

Tonight we receive the ultimate reward, our diplomas.

Henry Adams once wrote, "A teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops." This is s true, every teacher here has taught us much more than the textbook curriculum. Ever teacher here tonight has given us students something we will use or remember for the rest of your lives. I really don't think people understand or appreciate the time and effort out teachers have put into us Thank you Farragut High School for all the wonderful memories. Thank you parents for your support. Thank you teachers for teaching us your knowledge. Thank you for attending tonight.

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

My experience in Junior High started the summer right after sixth grade, before seventh grade even started. That summer I was part of the Hoosier Hills Pact program, the program was made to help students with the transition between elementary and Junior High. In the program I spent every wednesday at the school with Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. Long, and some other students whose names I can’t remember. Every once and awhile we would take a field trip somewhere to get to know each other better and other times we would be talking about what we would need to know for future years. When we had free time we would sometimes go down to the lower gymnasium and play games using a parachute and just have fun. The Pact program really made…

According to Cheryl Mizerny, she describes as one of her favorite reasons why she loves the fact that while “teaching middle school is never the same day twice. Sometimes, it’s not even the same from the beginning of class until the end depending on what drama has erupted in the interim” (2015). Knowing that a middle school student’s day will never will be the same compared as the rest. However, it’s the jobs of the middle school teaching staff and admission to help the students through this confusing life journey called middle school. When entering into the middle school for the first time, I have learned that students are feeling a mixture of emotions such as confused weather or not they can still do their favorite things that they did…

As we set out on the long trip to Georgia, I felt more ready than the rest. Not at all nervous at my introduction not only to public school, but also to middle school, I ignored my sister's nervous mutterings about being accepted or left out. My confidence waned a little as we became nearer and nearer to Orlando. Suddenly, the worry of not being accepted or not finding friends filled me with dread of the school days that lay ahead. I also was reminded that we were entering the school year mid-way through and that most social circles had already been established. Not to mention, I would be the only Cato in Discovery Middle School, because all of my siblings were still in elementary school.…

The last time I remember something as huge as starting in high school was having to move to Oregon from Alaska, but for better or for worse, here I am, attempting to make my mark on this big blue Earth. However, Highschool was never always just peaches, cream, rainbows and unicorns. If I’m to be one hundred percent honest here, I was legitimately terrified of it, whether it be the totally reasonable fear of being stuffed into a locker by a bully or getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors and passages of infinite classes and broom closets. But those fears never truly emerged up until the final days of freedom that remained from my graduation of 8th grade. As the days drew nearer, so did my fear reaching the brim of a breakdown. I was scared,…

Not only do you want to leave, but the fear of graduation is holding you back. In the movies the seniors can’t wait to graduate, but in life it’s not like that we don’t want to graduate as it may seem. It just means that we have to grow up and not be so childish and immature. We will have to get real jobs and not stay out till 4 O’clock on a Friday night because you will have to take everything seriously.…

Going into freshman year, I thought high school seemed like the coolest thing to have ever happened. I walked the hallways with students who were practically a head taller than I was.
