My Reflection Of My Writing As A Writer
Writing has always been a reluctant process for me. When planning to write a paper I always write down all my ideas I want to talk about and my professor for advice too. I specifically think I did very well on paper one. I usually do not enjoy writing when it turns into an essay about a subject I have to pretend to care about, but I really did enjoyed writing paper one. From the six weeks of taking this class, I do feel like my writing has improved by becoming more structured, defined and straight forward. I know my writing has become stronger due to all the forced assignments over the course of my education. I have learned how to support my arguments better rather than just a simple because. My arguments for paper one are more defined and …show more content…
I could not personally take a stand on the subject, I felt like I was writing the same thing everyone else was writing. Although, paper two was a little more difficult I learned to deal with the differences. I still think that my paper two can be improved by making more detailed arguments. I am so used to having a different paper with argument in to rather than an informative essay. My weakness for this essay would be lack of description. I was told my description for my topic of paper two would be long, however, mine was short because it was to the point. Although paper two was not my favorite paper, it did help me learn to write in a different style compared to argument based …show more content…
However, I managed to write well and create a thesis statement with supporting arguments. I did not feel confident about what I wrote because I was not ready for paper three yet so that affected my in class write. Paper three was a struggle to write due to the length of the essay. However, content wise the paper was also difficult due to the need of having to find outside sources. Paper one helped with paper three because it was argumentative. The writing process for paper three was time consuming because I had to read through many sources that were no adequate for my paper until I found the right ones. I also had another writing conference with my professor that helped me a lot. I was able to sort through my ideas and what I wanted to say and turn them into specific topics for my paragraphs. My weakness for this paper would be repetition of specific topics, however my strength would be being able to connect my sources with my

With your last paper I criticised your disjointed writing style and the lack of narrative flow. It is obvious that you have taken these comments on-board and have worked towards their successful resolution. In saying that, there is still room for improvement in this regard. While your transitions are much improved, some shifts between paragraphs feel a little messy. Being aware of this issue, as you clearly are, will help you continue to improve your writing style.…

After receiving back my draft of my final paper, I made several changes to it; taking into consideration not only my instructors comments and suggestions, but also suggestions from the Center for Writing Excellence. Some of these suggestions crisscrossed from my instructor to Write Point, and made it a bit easier in making those changes.…

I had no difficulty writing out the essay because of the numerous different drafts I typed out. I went over my ideas and organized my work through the outline you gave us which helped a lot when writing the essay. I gave myself enough time to skim through my book to find sufficient quotes that would help me answer the prompt and help support my evidence. The outline alone helped me organize my paper because it split up several parts of the paper through: quotes, claims, warrants, and the thesis statement. The different activities we did during class with our papers helped…

The paper sounded as if a robot wrote it and, there was very little creativity or explanation of my thoughts. First, I changed one of my sources that would stronger support my claim, and it allowed me to cite the speaker. As a result, I was able to explain my thoughts better which would benefit any reader to understand my paper. Secondly, I used higher vocabulary words and more transitional words. This allowed my revised writing to seem more natural and have better flow. I have gained more high vocabulary words since the beginning of the school year that I am proud to use. Lastly, I added a concluding paragraph because I did not have once in my first writing. I recognized that my writing didn’t sound complete without summarizing all of the evidence to support my claim. In the end, I have gained more ways to deal with the process of writing such as revising, using transitional words, using high vocabulary, and including a concluding paragraph at the end of my…

Some changes that I have made to this document are for example, strengthening the rhetorical appeals, cutting out sentences that were not useful, and also making the essay more direct. This shows my development as a conscious writer because I was able to take comments that I received and put them into action. Not only that, I was able to read over my essay and catch mistakes that I did not see when I first submitted this assignment in the beginning of the semester. In these final revisions I thought I was good at being able to better specify certain problems to make my argument more understandable. Also I thought I was efficiently able to re-read the essay and find sentences that did not have to be in the essay because they were either repeater,…

Writing isn’t something that was ever stressed in my high school and since I am a computer science major, didn’t think that I would really be needing to write very often. But, this class has completely changed my perspective on writing, along with how I write. I have learned how to better plan my papers, create strong arguments, and how to create a good flow in the final product.…

I think that now I write papers more structured and organized rather than throwing all of my ideas down on the paper. In the future, I think that I will seek feedback by asking a friend to proof read my work or by going to the ask center for help after I have read it aloud several times. If I need more feedback I could talk to my professor and see what his expectations are and what I can improve on. Overall, the experience that I had with all of my proof reading and feedback resources was positive. I think that I have learned more about my habits, which have helped me improve my writing skills in…

I believe the greatest strength of my paper is how I put the information into my own words when I could and did not use too much detail. This was a big deal to me, because like I said before, I am not very good at picking out main points. Putting sentences into my own words has also been a struggle for me but I think I did a good job in this paper.…

As shown in my final products, my ability to convey a message through my writing has gotten stronger. My persuasive essay, for example, was able to convince those with opposing views by using information and inferencing how it would affect everyone in a negative manner. Also, in my cultural identity essay I was able to effectively describe and define my culture and how the combination of my parents’ distinctive cultures became a unique one entirely. Previously in my writing I do not think I was able to efficiently convey a message to my audience like I do after this…

Although I consider English/Composition one of my strong points, writing wouldn’t fall into the category of things I like to do. As bad as it sounds, I’m the type of person who only writes when it’s required of me to do so. As I look back on my writing career I’d have to say my best writing course was a course entitled Health Disparities. I took this course my junior year at Spelman College and was required to write quite a few papers. I would name this course my best in terms of writing because we were able to choose between a number of topics to write our papers on, versus just one, and each topic focused on something I personally am very interested in, which is health. Most of the papers required 5-10 pages, but because I was interested in the topics 5-10 pages felt like 3-5. The professor provided detailed feedback on our papers, giving us the opportunity to revise the paper before turning in the final copy.…

Overall, I am not a completely horrible writer. I’m good at getting my point across, and just flat out writing once I get going. However, there is definitely things that I can improve on, as there almost always is in life. My grammar skills and sentence wordiness can greatly be improved, this will come with writing more and looking over my work. I didn’t really write papers until this class, so these issues will also get better as I become a more experienced…

In English 101, during the course of the semester, I believe that I have overall earned a B+ as a final grade. During the semester my grades have been consistently average and my essays have gotten progressively more detailed and although they haven’t been the most concise they have gotten a lot stronger and showed more promise as the semester progressed which is showing that, during the time I have been learning things in class and applying those skills towards essays, and homework. During the class period I have also participated in almost, if not all of the class discussions, while making sure I voice my opinions and thoughts. While I was making sure to voice my opinion it caused debates among other classmates, which in return caused a lot of brainstorming to go on as well. In all, I believe that my work showed the accomplishments of academic writing, how academic writing works overall, the ability to read and comprehend critical works, and the accomplishment of being able to debate important topics.…
