My Proud Moments as Being a Parent My father always said to me and my siblings when we were growing up, “You’ll never know how proud we are of you until you become a parent yourself.” Raising my children is a full-time job, and even though they have left the nest I can still remember the times that they have made me so proud. Some of the memorable moments are me becoming a parent, graduating from college, and watching my daughter walk down the aisle on her wedding day. First of all, the moment that I actually became a parent and I heard my children’s first cry as they entered the world will be something that I will never forget. It will be something that is forever etched in my heart. From the very first moment that I held my children in my arms was the best moment ever. I will never forget the first time when I heard them say, “I love you Mommy!” When our second child was born my daughter was so proud to be a big sister, it melted my heart the love she had for her new baby brother. Second of all, no matter how many times you witness graduation as a parent, it never stops being special. It was gratifying watching the two of them graduate from high school and college. It was a great moment to watch them officially complete the first step in their life’s journey. Watching them march in with their class and seeing them walk up to the podium with their caps and gowns on to accept that hard-earned diploma, gave me a huge amount of joy and pride. Last of all, is when my daughter Stephanie got married. I was so proud that she had grown into a beautiful woman and found a man that truly loved her. All eyes were on her as her nervous father gave a small smile as he escorted her down the aisle to the song Canon in D. I started tearing up because she looked exquisite in her white, sparkling, satin wedding gown. When she joined her husband at the altar, you could that see the two of them found their soul mates.
