My Personal Project: Analysis Of A Personal Project
1. Introduction
For my personal project, I had a few ideas of what I wanted to do. First, I wanted to do something with gaming because it´s a hobby of mine and I love to play games, but then I realised I wouldn't really learn a lot about it since it's one of my passion and I have done a lot of research about it in the past. It took me a while before I thought, “what other things do I love doing?” Sleep came to my mind and I thought to myself, “I don't know much about it. Just that I like to sleep and it refreshes me.” I got really interested in the idea of researching about something that we all need, sleep. Also that I LOVE TO SLEEP!
Since the Personal Project or PP, is an IB Middle Years Program requirement and that I HAVE to do it to pass,

Took me a while and wasn't sure if they were correct. Saved it again multiple times and turn off my computer to rest from the work.

March 27, 2016; Started my Analysis of my Personal Project. Worked on making the outline and Introduction. Got a bit confused but after some questions to my friend got it all set up.

March 28-31, 2016; Worked on the whole analysis little by little each day since the deadline was coming soon. No trouble really. Just a bit confused but got through it.

April 1, 2016; Best day ever, got done with my analysis and finished up the bibliography. Went to sleep right after.
4. Taking action
I made my personal project to show people the basics of what occurs to our bodies when we sleep. My goal is to be able to make my essay understandable for my readers, to also self-teach myself of new knowledge that I have been learning from researching about sleep stages. My essay wasn't that hard to make, it was really time-consuming because I had to redo it apart from that. I think I covered my goal or criteria. I’m not really sure about the global context but I also think I did. I feel like I could have done better with my essay and proofread

Not just that but also that I've learned a lot more about each different stages. The personal project itself wasn't really that challenging apart from writing the essay and the analysis because I'm really bad at writing things. I think I could have done a better job at writing my essay and the report. My goal or criteria was to explain and tell my readers the basics about sleep and what occurs when we go to bed at night and I think I did a good job of achieving my original criteria about the stages that happen while we sleep. I didn't go so far into details because after all it's a basic talk. I think the main obstacle was re-writing my essay. Is not hard to re-write it, is just remembering what I wrote and it's time-consuming. I just had to re-write it even though I didn’t want to. If I look back at my Personal Project overall, I think the only thing I would do differently is probably getting help with my essay and analysis and making it better with vocabulary and grammar as that is one of my weaknesses. With the global context, my topic falls into Sociology and Anthropology which is the study of humans, social institutions, and culture. I think overall, I did quite well and I can see where I can improve. It was fun researching and learning something

Some feedback that I may receive might point out areas that I thought were researched enough but the person giving the feedback believes there is more, I would further research. Many individuals told me that if I would not put thought into the topic of my senior project, I would never enjoy it. And they were correct, I have seen so many people do nothing but complain about the twenty hours they have to forge. Fortunately for me, I did not have to do that. I had no troubles getting the twenty hour requirement for this project, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Through my project log, I will describe how I decided my project, who I decided on as my mentor and why, how I completed my project, and what I learned from doing so.…

Sleep is considered a vital part of human life. Without sleep, the human body is unable to function properly. By recording my sleep patterns over a 72 hour time period, I was able to notice patterns in my circadian rhythm, my sleep cycle, and the effects of sleep on my body. Although I did not have any interesting dreams to analyze in my sleep journal, I did collect some interesting data.…

This research assignment has been a quite challenging assignment for me. The overall writing process has been the most difficult. Coming up with a draft was the first step in my writing process. I kept writing and every time I would go back, changes were made. I revised many paragraphs and run on sentences. In the beginning, I began to procrastinate because I did not even want to think about such a complex seeming assignment. After my meeting with Professor Klein, she gave me a lot of good feedback and ideas on how to start strongly. After my meeting, I started my essay on a better track and got a few pages complete. After the peer review session in-class, I learned a lot from my peers. My classmates thankfully gave me appropriate, last minute feedback. After this, I went back and fixed any grammar or formatting issues I had, along with adding more to my final essay. This process was long and not at all easy, but I was able to get it done efficiently.…

    Sacrificing Sleep

How important is it for students to get a good night’s sleep? Sleep is the activity that occupies the most of our spare time more than anything. Next to food, water, and shelter, sleep is one of the most important necessities for human survival. Even though humans need sleep to function properly and in the extreme cases live, most people choose to ignore their need for sleep. In an article called Sacrificing Sleep For Study Time Doesn’t Make The Grade, author Michael Breus states students who stay up late studying are more likely to have academic problems the next day. All around the world there are students filled with procrastination. This procrastination has an effect on all of their assignments, and their studying time. Students also have other academic, and other extracurricular activities that take up a lot of their time, so it gets hard finding time to study. Some students will stay up very late for many hours the night before an exam hoping to get an exceptional grade, but sometimes not getting enough sleep can have a bad effect on their grade. Michael Breus wrote this article to address the importance of sleep. Breus talks about the amount of sleep teens consume, and how much sleep is needed every night. Breus also writes about what happens when students don’t get enough sleep. This paper will discuss why sleeping is important, the effects of good & bad sleep, and how much sleep is necessary everyday.…

So all I really had to do was expand and polish work I had already done. This assignment was very fun since I really like poetry and the analysation there in. Also I had a lot of fun with many of the topics that Rumi talked about and most of them seemed quite humorous to me. I did take my paper to the writing center and have a tutor review the grammar with me just to make sure I had correct punctuation and spelling. This resource is very helpful and reassuring that I am handing in the best work I could possibly do, and this feeling is quite pleasing. Also this is one of the first papers that I ever started during a break from school, this took a lot of burden off my back for when I came back and I did not have as much work as I normally would have. This pressure being lifted was a lifesaver since I actually had a presentation due in another class, which I had forgotten about. When I came back from vacation and realized that I had this presentation since I had already made a good start on this paper I could devote more time to preparing for my presentation. All in all I really liked this shorter length paper assignment since it forced up to focus on getting all the points we wanted to express into this small a space and this in turn made the quality reflect how much work was put into the small area…
