My Internship With Lokelani Intermediate School
I’ve wanted to be an interpreter since I was ten years old. I was so impressed how interpreters could know so many languages and transition it another language. It truly baffled me and it was a career I wanted to do. It was truly an honor to receive an internship with Lokelani Intermediate School. Interpreting at schools/universities is a challenge and the interpreter has constant challenges, not just the deaf student but other students and school factors. I learned that being an interpreter is not just interpreting for a student. You get attached to the kids no matter what. Some of the 21st Century Skills that this internship applied are Civic Literacy and Engagement, Communication Skills, Global Awareness, Interpersonal Skills, Self-Directional Skills, and Thinking and Problem Solving. During this internship I learned more about the deaf community in education and how the government handles it. Communication Skills and Global Awareness also played an important factor because obviously I have to communicate with the kids and in this experience I learned how to interact with these students and teachers. I also learned how the learning environment is like for the interpreters and students and was able to apply it to my internship and hopefully to my Senior Project. Interpersonal Skills is something that I had a difficult time with the interpreters. I was a bit nervous to ask them to sign papers during the internship, like sign off my hours, an evaluation and etc. Also I felt like I was a distraction when I went along with the interprets to their meetings. The best part of the internship was shadowing the principal. Like we model for our students, it was good to see a typical day for a principal. While I was not able to shadow for a whole day, I was able to select items that I wanted to participate in. These included attending Board Meetings, Parent Teacher Association, Intervention and Referral Services, IEP/504’s, budget planning, hiring, discipline and supervising sports events. These activities showed what events a principal participant in when they are not observing teachers or attending workshops.…

It is the fact that in the era of modernization and industrialization, as well as the global integration, workforce, the skillful one in particular, is one of the most important factors for the development of a country. However, there will be a big mistake if foreign languages are not taken as priority under such circumstance. Therefore, in order to provide a high-qualified labor force with a high level of foreign languages, Hanoi University (formerly known as Hanoi University of Foreign Languages) decided to establish some new specialized courses which are taught parallel with foreign languages under the international standard method of education. The university executive department, together with lecturers and teaching assistants from all departments has always supported the student to not only thoroughly understand theories in class, but also facilitate the creation of real working environment. Hotel des Horlogers is a three star hotel that is owned by a Swiss Hotel Group known as Hotels Et Patrimoine. Hotel des Horlogers is one of the hotels, as the group owns six hotels in total, which are spread across Switzerland. Customers are assured quality service and satisfaction when they stay at Hotel des Horlogers. The main attraction of this hotel is the watchmakers’ tool collection that displays’ the finest arts and crafts that are used to make a watch. As per the name ‘Horlogers’ which can be derived from the French word ‘horlogerie’ which means wrist watch movement or a watchmaker, the hotel uses this attribute to gain clients. During my internship at the hotel, I worked as a Housekeeper for a period of five months and during this period, I cleaned bathrooms, made beds and vacuumed the floors. I experienced challenges but my supervisor, helped me achieve the standard quality of a bed. I think Housekeeping, which falls under the Rooms Division Department, is an important area of operation and management activity in a hotel, as Housekeeping deals with the cleanliness, and maintenance of the rooms, which also ensures that the room is ready for the guest.…
