Bowling, bowling, bowling, my only alternative to life. I love to bowl. Nobody on the face of this Earth can stop me from picking up a bowling ball. That would be like trying to stop a hurricane. Bowling is a very tough sport. Bowling involves hand and eye coordination, timing, speed and most of all the law of physics. To be a good bowler you must include all of the above to be consistant. Very much practice and dedication of your time can make you such a good bowler that you can make your living being a professional bowler .Ten pins sit at the end of a long, slippery, wooded alley just waiting for you to launch your ball like a torpedo and crash into them like two cars hitting each other head on at one-hundred ten miles an hour. That's adrenaline right there. Then, to add the competition in with the adrenaline, its an unstoppable force once it has you in its grip.
To understand the sport of bowling, first start with the approach and the release. The approach is how ever many steps you take towards the foul line before you release the ball. I have a five-step approach, which is most common with people. You must be comfortable in your approach to be a successful bowler. Balance and timing are key in your approach. You must have your body evenly balanced with your shoulders square to the pins in order to throw the ball the way you want to. If you even drop your shoulder a quarter of an inch, you can pitch it in the gutter.
Next is the mind part of the sport. If I throw a ball over the first arrow and I come up in the pocket light that means I either dropped my shoulder or I missed my mark. Being left handed I would move one board to the left because the ball came up left of the pocket so I will move left. If the ball was to come up high in the pocket and leave a split I would move one or two boards right

The bottom tip of the ball should be aligned directly under your chin. You should place your dominant hand on the laces of the ball, similar to how a quarterback grips the football. The offhand is the guide hand and is placed on the middle of the ball opposite the dominant hand. The middle finger should be aligned parallel to the seam of the ball, pressing the palm into the ball and forcing it into the power hand. You need to roll and cock the power hand, which forms a slight bend in the wrist, and turns the laces of the ball toward the ground. The placement of the dominant hand is crucial. First, place the first knuckle of the index finger across the seam of the ball. Second place the middle finger and ring knuckles between the 2nd and 3rd laces of the ball, keeping them close together. Thirdly, place the little finger across the bottom seam of the ball. Lastly, place the thumb around the ball, forming a natural "V" with the index finger and thumb. The placement of the guide hand is also crucial. First, place the middle finger down the seam of the ball. The height of the middle finger on the seam helps determine…

During a bowling league there are many terms that a person that has never bowled might not understand such as getting tapped. What could sound a little vulgar really means that a bowler's shot, or throw, was a good ball but left a corner pin such as a ten pin for a right hander or seven pin for a left hander. Each pin has a designated number starting with the head pin, or the front pin, numbered one then working left to right and front to back numbering the rest until you get to ten. It is a good bowler's goal to become lined up, or getting the correct angle to the pins, to reach the pocket. The pocket is an elusive creature known as the one and three pins for right handers and the one and two pins for left handers. The pocket can be very frustrating to find because of oil patterns. Oil is applied to the lane to make bowling more challenging. It can be applied in various amounts, lengths, and even shapes. This causes a bowler to use different types of bowling balls that are either are aggressive, that means to hook more, or balls that skid further down the lane before they hook. These are some of the most fundamental terms that an outsider would need to know to watch bowling and discuss it on basic level.…

A physiologist in Washington, DC, Mark Lander says that “it does have the potential to improve a person’s cardiovascular system ”(Montgoris). It helps because a bowler is constantly moving and staying active. Mark Lander also states that “you can develop arm and leg strength and improve hand-eye coordination”(Montgoris). Arm and leg strength is a big part of physical activity in bowling. A bowler is constantly moving their arm by throwing the ball and is using their legs by walking. Hand and eye coordination is also a huge aspect in bowling, you have to look at the lane and arrows and not the ball because you have to know where to throw it correctly. When playing the game/sport you mainly focus on the arrows and you never are suppose to look at the pins, looking at the pins throw your hand and eye coordination off, which is not a good thing. A bowler is suppose to look at the arrows to where you want the direction of the Bowling ball to go, or else is it going to go somewhere where you didn’t want the ball to go. In conclusion, bowling is a sport because it contains physical activity, it have competitions and it is a professional sport played…

The first step is totally effortless: the ready position. Before the ball crosses the net, you should have your feet in a wide but comfortable stance. After your feet are shoulder width apart, bend greatly at the knees. Also, angle forward at the waist and put your weight on your toes. Hold arms loose somewhat in front of your body but, do not attach your hands yet.…

Bowling was first played by the Germans in the third century. Every German peasant had a kegal, which was a small club. They carried it for protection. They would place it on the ground and roll a stone to try and knock it over. If a peasant knocked the kegal over, they would be considered free of sin. Eventually as more people caught on to this sport, they would use a wooden ball and more than one pin. This was played as a sport and not a religious practice. Later on in history, people were betting on bowling matches and they set a limit on the amount they could bet. Over time, bowling spread into many other countries and moved indoors. Lanes were created which were made of wood or sun-baked clay.…

Sandbagging is a term used in many sports to define someone that is intentionally playing the sport bad in order to better themselves with handicap. There are people that completely agree with this and use the handicap as an advantage. On the other hand, you have the people that are for all intentional purposes trying to do their best every week and try to keep their average high. There are two sides to every story and finding out the cheating side is always the hardest. Bowling two handed has become a controversy because people technically aren’t switching hands, which is against the rules, instead they are switching styles and this usually causes them to have a lower average. Some people think that a new rule should be added to completely do away with the two handed style all together and others think that if people want to sandbag, then let them sandbag.…

    Carrom Rules

These rules are taken from the International Carrom Federation For full details please visit the ICF website http://www.carrom.org/ How to Play Two, three or four people can play. In singles, your opponent sits across from you; in doubles, you play opposite your partner. With three, you can play for points (blacks count one, whites count two, the queen counts five.) How to arrange the pieces on the board Line up the double whites to aim 'dead-on' into a corner pocket. Whoever plays first, or breaks, is always white. The object of the game is to sink all of your pieces, using the heavier 'striker', in any of the pockets before your opponent. Your turn continues as long as you keep sinking your pieces - luck shots count and all combinations are permitted. When placing the striker on the board to shoot, the striker must touch both 'base lines' (see left diagram), either covering the red circle completely, or not touching it at all. The striker may not touch the diagonal arrow line. Shooting styles are very personal - whichever 'grip' works for you is fine as long as you 'flick' the striker and don't push it. Generally, it's best to orient your body in order to see the line of your aim while shooting comfortably; you may not move or leave your chair. For forward shots, you can use your index finger, middle finger, or even the 'scissors' shot (right). Tip on technique: Before shooting, try touching the striker with your fingernail, to be sure that it's really on line. This will improve your accuracy and prevent you from hurting your finger. For 'back-shots' you may only use your thumb or the scissors technique. No part of your body, except your hand, may cross the imaginary diagonal line (wrong in illustration) nor may your elbow protrude over the frame in front of you. Even your feet or knees my not leave your quadrant. The red piece, or 'queen,' can be pocketed at any time after sinking your first piece but must be sunk before your last one. After…
