Throwing of the Pigskin

When it comes to sports I love them. One of my favorites is football however many people don’t even know how to play the sport so I’m going to help with that by giving you a look into football by throwing the football. Many people think that throwing a football is easy but it takes a few steps about 5 to 7 at the most when trying to throw the perfect the spiral pass like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning and should lead to a great touchdown celebration at the end because everyone has one in the back pocket.

First you must have a good grip on the football with there not being a standard gripping find what’s comfortable with your hand Peyton Manning a Super Bowl winning quarterback prefers to grip with two fingers , the ring and pinky finger across the the second and fifth laces. Make sure there is a bit of space between the ball and your hand.

Second you want to hold the ball with both hands at chest level because if not at chest level it feels very awkward might not be a spiral, next make sure your feet are shoulder width apart because you can trip on your own feet and make sure your body is perpendicular to your target

Now you’re going to want to step towards your target with your lead leg either your left or right depending on how you throw next you want to bring your throwing arm (left or right) straight back the elbow should be above the shoulder for good movement now rotate the hand slightly so the point of the ball points towards your head, Now quickly rotate forward around your waist and throw the ball overhanded which should lead into the beginning of the release.

Fourth Step basically deals with hand movement on release of the ball. At the point of release you’re throwing hand and arm should be fully extended toward the target. To get that beautiful great spiral off focus on your fingers, Let your fingertips linger on the ball as long as they can so the ball just rolls out of your hand, As it gradually moves away

The bottom tip of the ball should be aligned directly under your chin. You should place your dominant hand on the laces of the ball, similar to how a quarterback grips the football. The offhand is the guide hand and is placed on the middle of the ball opposite the dominant hand. The middle finger should be aligned parallel to the seam of the ball, pressing the palm into the ball and forcing it into the power hand. You need to roll and cock the power hand, which forms a slight bend in the wrist, and turns the laces of the ball toward the ground. The placement of the dominant hand is crucial. First, place the first knuckle of the index finger across the seam of the ball. Second place the middle finger and ring knuckles between the 2nd and 3rd laces of the ball, keeping them close together. Thirdly, place the little finger across the bottom seam of the ball. Lastly, place the thumb around the ball, forming a natural "V" with the index finger and thumb. The placement of the guide hand is also crucial. First, place the middle finger down the seam of the ball. The height of the middle finger on the seam helps determine…

The action all starts in the torso of the body, the abdomen area. The torso will mostly be neutral during the activity used mostly for static strength. You will experience some flexion within the rectus abdominis and the external oblique. If you rock back to gain momentum for the throw you will feel a greater amount of flexion in these areas. Your shoulders and back will then begin firing to create the force to throw the ball. Your latissimus dorsi will contact along with your deltoid and trapezius. This will create the lateral abduction of the shoulder. Another muscle you might think of as working here is the pectoralis major. This muscle has a lot to do with pussing things away from your body. Next your elbows will want to go from flexion to extension. This will happen in a very fast snapping motion where the triceps brachii flex and the biceps brachii now extend. As you throw the ball your wrist will naturally go from radial deviation to ulnar deviation, your hand will go from pronation to supination and you hands will also go from small flexion the large flexion. To perform these actions most all the muscles in the forearm, wrist, and hand perform some kind of flexion. If I write all this down we will be here all day. Some of the main muscles are the flexor carpi ulnaris, flexor carpi radialis, extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi ulnaris, opponens pollicis,…

The overarm throw is a skill frequently used in a wide range of sports such as cricket, softball and baseball. The action is also used in athletic activities such as javelin, with the overhead serve and smash in tennis, volleyball and badminton and passing a netball and basketball. An overarm throw is the action of the arm swinging backwards then upwards, as the elbow moves close to ear level, leading the throw forward a step is taken with the foot opposite the throwing arm, during the throw, body rotates to face forward and body weight transfers from back to front foot, the elbow then straightens before release, with throwing arm reaching forward and downward in a follow through. There are four mandatory movements involved an overarm throw. These include standing positionPlayer stands with one leg infront of the other, the process of bringing back the ball- player brings back the ball towards their ear slightly rotating the lower part of the body, throwing the ball-player uses maximum strength to throw the ball extending the arm and flexing the back leg and lastly ending in a follow through- back leg ends in a plantar flexion, arm is now inferior to the shoulder. There are many major bones, muscles, joints and joint actions used to perform this skill. Bones range in different shapes and sizes a feature which allows them to perform specialised functions. The main types of bones are long bones which are longer than they are wide and they function as levers, short bones which have a short axis and are found in small spaces and transfer forces and lastly flat bones which consist of a broad surface and serve as places of attachment for muscles also protecting vital organs.Bones provide a steady structure to the body and only move due to muscles pulling them often rapidly through specific positions enabling activities such as the…

Bunting is a skill that is often overlooked. When teaching your players to bunt, teach them to slide their top hand three-quarters of the way down the bat in a loose grip with all fingers behind the bat. Rather than direct or hit the ball, Little Leaguers should be taught to catch the ball with the bat. This will allow the ball to die quickly, preventing short pop-ups, and will usually results and a good fair ball bunt.…

    Football Grip Experiment

As said before the size of your hand will affect how far it is thrown. The grip of the ball will affect how far it is thrown because if it doesn’t have good grip it will probably slip off your hands when you throw it. The grip really helps the distance it is thrown because the more sticky it is the more force it will get and will go farther. The distance it will be thrown will be measured in yards so it will have to go pretty far to get a good length. Factors to determine distance: Arm strength (how fast it’s being thrown) ,Angle of trajectory( where it is being thrown),Spiral tightness (less wobbling),Spin rate Wind velocity and direction Humidity Density altitude, and also if the human is moving will he is moving. A good way to throw a ball farther is putting your 4 fingers on with the laces. Your thumb should be as underneath the football as possible. This way controls the angle of it the best, and throw it the farthest.…

In order to do this, you are going to need the right throwing mechanics. When the runner is going you don’t have much time to throw him out. The correct arm slot is important in this case. A catcher shouldn’t have a long wind up to throw. Instead you need to throw from your ear for a quick release (similar to a football throw). To get the ball there you need to have a smooth transfer which requires you to bring your glove to your ear where your throwing arm should meet the ball in the glove. A good way to practice this is just sitting on the couch and practicing your transfer. Another drill is to blind fold yourself and practice the transfer to make it muscle memory faster. After you have made a proper transfer and are ready to throw you have to get your throw power from somewhere. That power is in your legs. When you are throwing drive off of your back leg to create power towards your target. A drill that is great for throwing as a whole is the receive and pop drill. Have a teammate throw you and ball and right before you are about to catch it drive forward as you pop up to catch and throw down. Have your coach time you on your throws down to second base to record your pop time. The average high school pop time is 2.0, anytime under that is when coaches start to notice…
