My Dream Computer
My dream computer would host my e-mails, my blog and all my data. It would replace my phone and my game console. It would fit in my pocket and it's battery would last a full day. It would have a powerful CPU, an ergonomic keyboard, and a big screen.
To host my blog and my mail server, I have to let my mighty desktop computer allways plugged in, always connected to the internet. This raises some issues: 1. My mighty desktop uses energy. 2. It exposes itself to viruses. 3. Many internet service providers don't let me send e-mail directly from home (they block the outgoing SMTP port). 4. My ADSL connection don't let me upload much. My blog may lag. 5. Running a personal server is difficult. I don't need a full desktop to host my email, my blog, and my data. I just need a plug computer. A plug computer is a computer which looks like a phone charger. It is a full computer, which can host your web site, your mail server, and more. It uses about 2 watts of power, which is about 50 times less than a regular desktop. Energy consumption is no longer a problem. Current free and open source operating systems are very good at security. Viruses aren't really a problem for them.
. Nearly all of us have assymetric bandwith. Dowload is fast and easy, while upload is slow and difficult. We can browse the web, but we can hardly make it: a personnal web server will be slow to upload your content. A temporary solution is to make light web sites. A better one is to complain about it, spread the word and maybe even start a political campaing about that, but it will take time.

Then, I will have my dream computer: my plug computer will host my e-mails, my blog and all my data. My Desktop and palmtop computers will be my game console and my phone. I would carry my palmtop all day, and use my powerful CPU, my big screen and my ergonomic keyboard at

Desktops are at the maturity/declining stage in their life cycle. The invention of laptops, tablets, and touch screen computers have drastically decreased the demand of desktops. Personal computers have come a long way over the course of the last several years. Although they are still not on the level of that of a supercomputer, they are extremely powerful and able to accomplish many necessities of every day home life. In my computer at home, I have a quad core Intel I7-2700K processor running at 3.4ghz, a very modern processor capable of incredible things. My personal computer has 16 gigabytes of DDR 3 memory running at 2133mhz, and it has two hard drives each capable of storing 1.5 terabytes of data. It has a basic bluray burner and a programmable mouse and keyboard making everything come together. Finally, my computer runs 3 monitors simultaneously, so I am able to see multiple videos and/or games and/or data all at once. This sounds fantastic, but unfortunately, it doesn’t even come close to comparing with a supercomputer like the one found in Columbia (http://www.nas.nasa.gov/hecc/resources/columbia.html).…

Admittedly, Macs were in the market first, and initially were much better than PCs. But it’s time to realize the future of home computing: the PC. Although Macs are not completely useless, PCs dominate the world of computers with a better user interface, cheaper price, and better internal workings. These advantages far outweigh any little extra features that a Mac might have.…

First let’s start with the basics: how much is it going to cost? Immediately many people will tell you how expensive a Mac computer is and that a PC is so much cheaper. This I will have to agree with, but before we make that decision let’s break the PC and Mac down a bit. Mac computers come in a very short variety; you have the MacBook Air, MacBook, MacBook Pro, the Mac Mini micro desktop, the all in one iMac, and the Mac Pro power desktop. Not as many choices there as the PC and almost the entire line of Macs will carry at least $1,000 prices tags. Now that’s a very hefty price tag for a system that can’t be customized with the exception of what you get when you order it. PC’s on the other hand can range anywhere from $300 all the way to $3,000. But the main point here is how many options you have when it comes to choosing what you want with your computer. This will have to go to the PC’s for their variety of choices that can fit the budget of almost anybody.…

    How to Build a Computer

Most people believe that building a desktop computer is difficult or complicated, even though that is not really the case. It takes a basic understanding of how to use a screw driver, read manuals, and know a little about basic hardware and software. Building your own computer has its ups and downs. Building a computer one’s self can save money, because then you do not have to pay someone else to do it. Also, when building the computer, you need one hundred percent control over what is inside the computer hardware and software-wise. While building a Personal Computer (PC) is somewhat easy, building a MAC is not because Apple usually controls parts and software too much.…

Computers have had a dramatic change from the way they used to be, when a computer would take up an entire room and weighed tons of pounds and had the same amount of power as a scientific calculator. My current computer is my first and only laptop I got from my parents. It was bought online October 2009, before I entered college in Malaysia. It is a red rectangular Dell studio with a 15.6 inch widescreen and it weighs around 7 pounds. I really enjoy the big screen when I am watching a drama or movie on my laptop. Also, I use my laptop to video call my family in Malaysia. I can also read news online, listen to music and play games to relax myself when I am stressed out from my school assignments. My laptop is my best companion and I can’t imagine what I would do if I lose it.…
