Move up Day Speech
What’s up guys? I’m gonna try not to be too sappy, but today is a sappy day, so I’ll have to throw a bit in there haha…
For us seniors, school is over, which is crazy to think about. It’s all we’ve known for 13 years. Think about that. 13 years of our lives spent with, give or take, the same people. And it’s finally coming to an end. That’s insane!
But during my years in school, there have been too many epic moments to name. If I named them all, I’d be here forever. But I do remember what it’s like, being a 7th grader, sitting over there and thinking “oh my god, check out these losers up here crying on stage” In fact, I remember those exact words coming out of my mouth. Truth is, when you’re in 7th grade you feel like you have all the time in the world. Well, guess what? It goes by fast…Everything does. I mean, it seems like yesterday I was sitting in Ms. Howard’s room in 1st grade, beside my dude Mike Link, who apparently couldn’t wait until the bathroom break…seniors, you know what I’m talking about. Haha. Or it seems like I’m still in 5th grade, growing my hair out into a mullet, best friends with Cassidy Bayes…yeah, I have no idea what I was thinking. Hahahaha.
But in all seriousness, enjoy the time that you do have here. Be yourself. Do what you do best and do whatever it is you want to do. If you want to be an all-state football player, then get in the weight room and do it. If you want to be a pro in Call of Duty, do it. If you want to be a music producer, do it. Whatever you want to do, do it! Nobody is stopping you. Leave here with no regrets. It takes one day to prove yourself. What are you waiting for?
When you first become a senior, you’re like “ahhhh yeah, one more year left! One more year until I’m out of Fayetteville! I can’t wait to graduate. I can’t wait to not have to see these faces everyday! Towards the beginning of the year, I thought this every single day. Then you start experiencing your “lasts”… Last homecoming, last football

Getting to see everybody everyday can get tiring, in which you want out, but realizing that I'm going to actually graduate in 15 days, it makes me think of all the good times and how I’m going to miss not going to the same school as my brother, and having to make new bonds with new people nonstop and getting new teachers every year that could care more than others or not care as much, and to me 90% of a teacher's job, is caring for their…

If you could be positive about one thing -- now I'm not saying that one thing has to be going back to school -- but one thing like watching YouTube at the end of the day, chilling on your bed with some Netflix after classes, or going back to the sport/gym routine you love, just think of that when you wake up in the morning and it might (just a little) put you in a good mood to get you through the rest of your day at school. Also, think of it this way, you are just one more day closer to summer vacation. Now you only have about 160 days (give or take a few). That's always something to smile…

Bursting through the front doors of the school I stride out into the summer sun. The last day of school is cloudless and the sun shines brightly, warming my face and long chestnut hair blowing in the slight summer breeze. The breeze is chilly and the weather isn’t quite hot enough to feel like a real summer but that’s Seattle for you. Turning my new IPod to one of my favorite songs I start toward home, excited. For this is not just any last day of school, this is the last day of my junior year of high school. I am now officially, a senior. I had been dreaming about this summer for so long and I am determined to make it the best one of my life. I start sprinting home grinning till it hurts with Rabbit’s song “It’s Love” blaring…

I was the type of student to do the bare minimum and do whatever it takes just to get by. Going into this senior year I thought it was going to be a breeze but I've been wrong before. This senior year has taught me that if I want to be successful in my life then I need to give it my all just like Jesus commanded us too. This past summer I started to look into colleges I would be interested in playing football for. I found a few schools in Wisconsin that interested me so me and my mother drove 28 hours in a Prius to go visit 4 schools. During the trip I realized that college is closer than it seems. College is not just something we dream of one day but it is the next step in our lives. I am extremely excited for what God holds for me in the future and am ready to face life's challenges. High school is a lot of pressure but we all will look back one day and remember the good times of it. I am very thankful for the people in my life that have made me the man I am today. Finding the right college is going to a hard decision but I know God will put me at the place I need to be an I am very excited wherever that is going to…

As a student I have fears and the fears an average student has at this time of the year is indubitably the worst. I unlike other kids have the fear of losing others, with graduation coming up, my biggest fears came true. I am a band kid, a person who gets close to others fast, and makes friends after only a few words with them. Most of the time I don’t realize it but, I am slowly losing my friends, slowly but surely I am becoming the last one, even as hard as it is to get close to people due to the age difference , everyone is leaving me, and then I will be alone. As the seniors leave I can tell you that, well, that is my last circle that was my last hope of having a fun summer. Their summer will only consist of filling out job applications…

Last year had to by far be the toughest year for me in high school. I grew away from many people that I considered some of my closest friends. I also suffered academically because I began to spend less time doing work and being focused on less important things. I got caught up in unnecessary drama, went on my first college visits, and met new people in the matter of one year. Not only did I grow as a person, I grew as an athlete, I grew as a sibling, and I grew as a young woman. My junior year allowed me to develop my expectations for myself in life and my expectations for the people who I choose to surround myself with. This was the year that I decided who I would want to become in the future.…

As the school year continued to go in full force, we started to prepare for all of the different activities that were ahead of us. The first main event that took place was homecoming, in Germany or at least my high school homecoming is where all of the different sports actually have a home game. Not one of the teams traveled to a different school that weekend, so every one of us was home. It made for a fun filled weekend. Getting ready for homecoming spirit week, getting ready for the dance, buying a dress, getting my hair done these were all things that came with that special weekend or day I guess. This was just something that I wasn’t looking forward to although it was going to be one of the best times I was going to have my senior year.…
