I. SES Overview
Morocco has set the ambitious goal of reaching a solar energy capacity of 2000 MW (megawatts) by 2020. The Moroccan Solar Plan is considered a significant milestone on the country’s path towards a secure and sustainable energy supply. Morocco imports upwards of 90% of its energy. The chart below shows the energy imports; net (% of energy use) in Morocco across the past decade.

According to Mohammed Zniber, the Deputy Energy Minister, the target for Morocco is 42% of the power supply coming from renewable energy by 2020, with 14% of that coming from solar.
