Summery about the Case:
The case states that Northern Insurance company build a huge investment system TUFS (Technical Underwriting Financial System). The system was build to support and assist the company by “streamlining the underwriting process and providing strategic e-business capabilities”. The project had been completed on time and on budget but the underwriting staff choose to use the old procedures, they met the system with heavily resistance and use TUFS just for double-check. After implementation, the system was started consuming most of the IT budget and resources in order to fix the errors of the underwritings in the system. They spend almost $4 million therefore, the CIO, Martin Drysdale’s job was on the line. He had a meeting with the CFO to discuss how they can avoid further investment on the system and ask them to answer the following question:.
