Is The Miami Heat a Dynasty? A sports dynasty is a team that enjoys a period of dominance over the sport, generally by winning multiple championship titles. The age old question is what classifies a team as a dynasty? Does the team have to win back to back titles? How many titles must they have? Will they be this dominant in the future? The list of questions sport analysis have is endless. The issue remains that people argue over what defines a team as a dynasty. Todays most popular argument is whether or not the Miami Heat is a dynasty? Fortunately sports are closely followed and well documented and we are able to examine what teams have done in the past to establish dominance. The San Francisco 49ers football team from 1980-1990, won five NFL championship. The team was led by Hall of Famers: Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott, Steve Young, and coach Bill Walsh(football Hall of Fame). With five Super Bowl wins, the 49ers are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the second-most Super Bowl wins. Joe Montana threw for 3,521 yards and 26 touchdowns, with only 8 interceptions, giving him a 112.4 quarterback rating, which was then the highest single-season passer rating in NFL history, and was named NFL Most Valuable Player. Jerry Rice, in his fifth year in the league, continued to dominate; he led the league with almost 1490 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns. The 49ers clinched their fourth straight division title (NFL). With a history and statistics as these it is hard to argue that they were not a Dynasty from 1980-1990. The Chicago Bulls won six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998 with two three-peats. All six championship teams were led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and coach Phil Jackson (basketball Hall of Fame). The Bulls won an NBA record-72 games during the 1995–96 NBA season and are the only team in NBA history to win 70 games or more in a single season. Jordan was named the Finals MVP sixt times in his career. He retired for the second time

For Jordan’s 8th season, the 1995-96 season Jordan decided to re-join the NBA and wore the number 45 as 23 had been retired in his honour following his retirement. He decided to re-wear number 23 as it felt weird, so he got fined $10 000 for wearing a different number without telling the NBA and $4 000 for wearing different shoes.
