MED Camp
Hello,

My name is Allison Dilaurentis; I am currently attending Eastridge High School. The reason I'm Interested in the medical field is because the human body and all its functions fascinate me to the fullest. Knowing the life of a person lying in my hands is very important to me and I'm aware and prepared for all the responsibilities it comes with. Being that I one day want to join the Medical field I want to have as many real life hands on experiences and practice as possible. Having the opportunity of being able to be a part of this wonderful summer program would be an honor if given the chance. I want to become a Trauma Surgeon one day and I believe this program would be a very beneficial way to learn more deeply how fast pace the medical field really is rather than hearing it learning it from a book. I am a very intelligent driven student and I know this program would benefit me the to the fullest from everything taught to me during the camp. I know I will put to use every experience encountered during various field trips to medical facilities will improve the way I tend to my desired profession in the Medical Field. Med Camp would also give me a very large advantage by teaching me the basics and learning how critical any situation in the medical field can be. I know attending Med Camp during the summer will give me extensive practice and immense knowledge that I may have not learned till I was older or till my Internship or Fellowship before being on my own in the Medical field. In the end I would really love to be given the opportunity to attend this prestigious program to learn and experience fully all the medical field has to offer.

Thank you

Jesus Camp is a documentary film about Christian families and their journey through life with their Evangelical Christian beliefs. The main portion of the film is about children within the Evangelical faith and their time spent at a summer bible camp. An evangelical Christian is a person who is called to share the good news, to preach God's Word, and to set an example of purity and honesty. Even if these movements require political action. They seem to be very strict in their beliefs. If God would not approve of what they are doing then they should not be doing it. Harry Potter, for example, is spoken of in Jesus Camp. Becky Fisher, one of the children’s camp counselor’s, calls Harry Potter a warlock. She announces to the children that “warlocks are enemies of God and you do not make heroes out or warlocks.” Their world view is good versus evil; God is good and Harry Potter is evil. This group of people works to make sure they do not abandon the most important calling which is sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others.…

Doctor Academy has many opportunities that is helping me to figure out what career choices I want to explore and what college I wanted to attend. One way that Doctor Academy help me is when they get me involved in things that I am not used to doing, like having myself do a 13 page research, and shadowing a doctor. With less than a year left of school, I’ve been applying myself in so many different areas in order to better myself as a future doctor. Volunteering, shadowing and extra-curricular activities have all been part of my doings. I've got to admit these past three and a half years have been, by far, extremely interesting and challenging. I have been learning about life, health, body systems and their functions. It is fascinating to learn about the biological and chemical make-up of the human body and the countless processes that are occurring constantly within us. I am looking forward to entering medical school to learn in an even greater detail about the many different interactions with our body systems.…

When I found out that BISD was giving a few of us the chance to have the full experience of NHI with having to pay no expenses, I was overwhelemed with joy. I am aware of the impact that this program can have on you, and I want nothing more that to attend. I too, like many others that have already, want to be touched and moved by the immense amount of knowledge and wisdom that I know I can gain from this program .Interacting with other students like myself that are eager to learn more about themselves and about their future seems like an ideal way to spend part of my summer.…

"A Healing Hospital is a hospital that employs healthy role models who teach health improvement, offers a healing environment and also leads community health improvement instead of just focusing on illness care and rescue care. A Healing Hospital focuses on healing and becomes an active member in fixing the healthcare system because they lower the need for costly, invasive care by improving health" (Harmony Healing House 2013). The healing hospital paradigm focuses on a holistic approach in caring for patients. Healing a patient and curing a patient may seem to be the same thing, however curing a patient focusing on fixing the problem or eradicating the illness or disease. Healing on the other hand is about helping the patient be at peace regardless of their disease. It is about promoting a balance with the person 's body, mind and spirit. This kind of environment helps reduce anxiety and stress that can positively affect a patient health.…

When the realization that my final days of high school were vastly approaching, I began to ask myself what I would do with my life. From that point, the thoughts began to creep in of what things I could do to help better prepare myself for the future that was being pushed upon me. Seeing that I have known since a young age that I wanted to be an educator, my exploration of a summer job that would involve surrounding myself with children began. After endless hours of internet searching for the job that would best suit me, I discovered a Christian summer camp that was very much a place that would cease to leave my mind for the next few days. Days passed by and prayers were sent up when I finally came to realize that this was the job I needed. Working at a Christian summer camp would be a great job for any young person because it is a way to spread God’s word with young girls, push limits and set new goals, and it exposes the counselor to see what teachers and educators face on a day to day basis.…
